Yeah. It’s called having a business model that supports and depends on this sort of sharing. But they require research and engineers to figure this out?

It’s business model? An unmoderated platform featuring algorithms designed to amplify engagement.

“Its early findings suggest that a large amount of content that does not break the rules may be causing harm in certain communities, where it has an echo chamber effect.”

If it is causing harm in certain communities, maybe it's time to change the rules?

The reason for these internal reports are to provide some meaningful justification to make fundamental changes to FB that would be counter to making the most $$ in the short term.

And to try to pre-empt changes to section 230.

Once the pandemic does recede in the minds of politicians, I could see the only major bipartisan bill passed on 2021 would be one that takes aim at algorithms that amplify these kind of fake news voices.

I'm not so sure the pols are tech savvy enough to know what that darn algo-rhythm is. They'll think it's some kind of birth control method created by Al Gore.
