McConnell: It’s too bad corporations are now bullies

If only corporations didn’t pander to liberals, right? Why are they complaining about voter laws in Georgia? Because they’ve been lied to, apparently.

I mean, it’s just so out of control. Here they are, these neophytes to political realty, being pushed around by bullies and now they themselves are doing the bullying. It’s not their fault, they don’t know any better. Let’s all hope that that fall back into line soon.

Love, Mitch.

Disband the GOP now, for the sake of humanity.

Poor Mitch. Biden's early success and high approval ratings must be killing him.

Can't help but notice the cynicism and accidental truth in his statement. He says the new restrictive voting laws are not NEARLY as bad as they were back in segregation days.

That's his standard?

Obama’s two wins didn’t affect Mitch’s SOP; why would Biden’s one?

Just Mitch being Mitch.

And I do agree that Mitch may be concerned about Biden's success thus far, although he does play the long game. More immediately, he's got plans to motivate the mouth-foamers leading up to the midterms. So far, the culture wars seemed to have faded in popularity.

The GOP's mission to destroy American democracy was before trump, during trump and after trump.

Biden is doing just about everything right, so all Mitch can do is mouth nonsense in response. He's got a long two years of gibberish ahead of him.

They'll have to walk around Joe Manchin first, he's already announced "no to corporate tax increase".

Thousand-year old men using terms like "woke" does not seem genuine. He's got neckties that are older than the internet.

This is the most recent thing I've seen him say:

Quote

Manchin told a local news outlet he wouldn’t support raising the corporate tax rate from 21% to 28% as Biden proposed to pay for increased infrastructure and social-welfare spending. Manchin said he would be in favor of closing tax “loopholes” that benefit the wealthy and could support an increase in the corporate rate to 25%, which he said is the global average.

Well, I think Manchin has a point; I disagree with dragging it out at this moment because Congress needs to act not debate: but it should definitely be addressed in the near future.

That can only be fixed by Congress, which sets the IRS budget (and thus number of investigators) annually.

Do you mean the House? Because of course it has to be fixed by Congress.

Latest from McConnell to corporations: Shut the hell up but keep donating money.

“My warning to corporate America is to stay out of politics,” McConnell said at a news conference in Kentucky on Tuesday, before adding: “I’m not talking about political contributions.”

Do you mean the House? Because of course it has to be fixed by Congress.

Well, in theory the House controls appropriations, but in reality spending bills are bicameral animals these days. It's true that the Senate traditionally does not create appropriations bills separately from the House, but there is no prohibition on the Senate authorizing appropriations itself through the relevant Senate committee, and amending a House appropriations bill to boost spending on an authorized program (see page 7).

It's easier if the House does it, because it's easier to get things through the House process by majority. But it's Congress, not solely the House, that has jurisdiction here.
