Monday-Rep. Cheney slams Trump Big Lie again: '2020 presidential election was not stolen'

One of the few GOPers to point out that Trump's a psycho.GOP is the Party Of Treason.

Cheney stokes GOP rift with 'big lie' rebuke of Trump
“The 2020 presidential election was not stolen,” the Wyoming Republican wrote.

Rep. Liz Cheney on Monday escalated her feud with former President Donald Trump and his supporters in Congress, issuing a less-than-subtle swipe at the former president’s latest attempt to claim the 2020 election was stolen from him.

On Monday morning, Trump issued a statement from his Save America PAC proclaiming that the presidential election “will be, from this day forth, known as THE BIG LIE!” — an attempt to appropriate the label given to the false claim by Trump and his Republican allies that last November's election was in fact won by the former president.

Less than an hour later, Cheney (R-Wyo.), who faces renewed pressure from Trump-aligned forces within the Republican caucus to remove her from House leadership over her direct rebukes of the former president’s falsehoods, swiped back on Twitter.

“The 2020 presidential election was not stolen,” Cheney wrote. “Anyone who claims it was is spreading THE BIG LIE, turning their back on the rule of law, and poisoning our democratic system.”

Cheney was the highest-ranking Republican to join Democrats in voting to impeach Trump last January for the role lawmakers said he played in inciting the Jan. 6 Capitol riots. She has since become a top target of Trump and his political allies and has already headed off one attempt to remove her as House GOP conference chair.

Somebody needs to buy that domain and post a bunch of stuff about how the Republican party's perpetuation of this hoax is in fact "The Big Lie".

Cheney knows the score: her statements about Trump have outraged her Republican peers and it’s too late to back down. She’ll probably be voted out of office in the near term. She’ll never be a Democrat, but maybe will have the chance to offer a more positive impact on politics in the future.

I'm actually grateful for Cheney doing this. Trump appropriated 'fake news' and that had dangerous consequences. It's important to counter this nonsense right now before Trump gets a firm control over 'the Big Lie' like he did with 'fake news'.

Dems can whine all day about what Trump does, but that only feeds the fire. A high ranking repub needs to be doing this, so thanks Liz. I know some would say she is just trying to clear the field so she can destroy the world in her own way, but telling the truth is important and she chose to do that.

Oops:

Scoop: McCarthy trashes Cheney on hot mic

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) said Tuesday he's "lost confidence" in Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) during a moment of candor caught on a hot mic, a tape reviewed by Axios shows.

What he's saying: "I think she's got real problems," McCarthy told Steve Doocy off-air ahead of a live "Fox and Friends" interview. "I've had it with ... I've had it with her. You know, I've lost confidence. ... Well, someone just has to bring a motion, but I assume that will probably take place."

Yep, they’ll ditch her in a Pyrrhic victory over unity. It won’t help them earn a single sane voter, but could help them earn enough idiots to help them win the mid-terms.

Elise Stefanik has been busy working her Rolodex, meanwhile.

You all remember Stefanik from the impeachment trials, yeah? She’s a real treat, and perfect for a promotion as on-brand attack dog for Republicans. Oh, and she’s a woman, and the Republicans want that here, what a coincidence.

She’s “textbook” Trumpian today: [thehill.com]

Note that he used to be associated with Bush, Ryan, Kasich. So quaint: “ After election to the House six years ago at age 30, she vowed to be a bridge to millennials and became co-chair of the “Tuesday Group,” a small contingent of moderate Republicans designed to counter the far right.”

Deflection 101
And now the #2, Steve Scalise, has come out in support of Stefanik. He released a quote about how it’s all about uniting and regaining power in the midterms and fighting the Biden social agenda. Zero mention of Cheney criticizing Trump nor his supporters.
