closed door...no vote

Even in Kommie KimWorld you can see them vote.

Meeting behind closed doors for less than 20 minutes, GOP lawmakers used a voice vote to remove the Wyoming congresswoman from her leadership post, the latest evidence that challenging Trump can be career-threatening for a Republican, even one from party royalty.

a voice vote - that means that no vote is connected to any name - right? In 5 years, 80% will claim they voted against demoting Cheney.

I would have bet against the US falling prey to a true cult in a major political party. And yet, here we are.

On the one hand it’s symbolic. On the other, it’s a banana republic move. The irony meter broke a long time ago but this is about a deposed president who cries about fraud and fairness, and here they were today, doing a casual voice vote without any precision ... and tellingly, no accountability.

Democrats should be polling and asking conservative voters if they approved of Cheney’s ouster and if they are “sure” their rep actually “voted” how they think or claim they did. A little FUD here could be useful.

So no paper trail...

I already emailed my rep (Tom Emmer) to ask how he voted. I expect his response will be that, “It’s time to move along.” At least that’s what he told our newspaper when asked how he voted.

On the one hand it’s symbolic.

Voting a person out of a leadership position in Congress is (just) symbolic?

She still has her vote. The leadership roles can influence to degree, and yes they'll get more interviews but the rest of it is who-runs-the-meeting or whatever. And it's a nice title to have.

They already know Cheney votes "correctly," so their displeasure has its limits. They just needed to shut her up so that they can segue into the gaslighting phase re: election security and related tropes.

They just made her more of a person the Sunday shows will want to interview.

Very perceptive. It’ll be Graham and Cheney’s prime time. Could be worse I suppose, but I still can’t figure out what they see in Graham.
