Still supposed to wear them when using mass-transportation.

Well...I suppose on the plus-side is that we'll reach herd-immunity sooner rather than later (although the hard way for some folks).

Yup. The kids won’t take “soon” as an answer anymore to “Are we there yeeeeeet?”.

For better or worse, the pandemic is effectively “over”.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

The CDC says no more mask if you are vaccinated so why is it a surprise to see people without masks? We have been extremely conservative regarding masks but there doesn’t appear to be a reason to wear one now. Obviously there are places where it is still required but the new normal is no masks.

That is NOT what the CDC says.

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

It’s also probably not what the NY Yankees say, either ... just a current example of how being vaccinated doesn’t guarantee you won’t spread Covid to someone else.

Some are concerned about themselves. Fewer are concerned about others.

Pretty much, it is what they are saying. Whether or not a person feels "comfortable" doing that is a completely different subject, as we've witnessed here on our little forum.

Update that fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear a mask or physically distance in any setting, except where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance

Umm, no. CDC has said that for those who are fully vaccinated, masking and physical distancing should continue for public transportation and certain other activities:

"What You Should Keep Doing

For now, if you’ve been fully vaccinated:

You will still need to follow guidance at your workplace and local businesses.

If you travel, you should still take steps to protect yourself and others. You will still be required to wear a mask on planes, buses, trains, and other forms of public transportation traveling into, within, or out of the United States, and in U.S. transportation hubs such as airports and stations. Fully vaccinated international travelers arriving in the United States are still required to get tested 3 days before travel by air into the United States (or show documentation of recovery from COVID-19 in the past 3 months) and should still get tested 3-5 days after their trip.

You should still watch out for symptoms of COVID-19, especially if you’ve been around someone who is sick. If you have symptoms of COVID-19, you should get tested and stay home and away from others.

People who have a condition or are taking medications that weaken the immune system, should talk to their healthcare provider to discuss their activities. They may need to keep taking all precautions to prevent COVID-19."

You just quoted the same thing I read, too. What is different about your quote? The end result is that you are still required to follow the guidelines of individual locations and private entities. But thr CDC is saying that vaccinated people are safe without a mask, unless you've been told by your doc you keep wearing one.

The part about public transportation -- which is saying that, even if vaccinated, you should be masking. The implication is that -- even if you're vaccinated -- when you're in a closed, confined space, there is risk to yourself and/or others.

The problem is at this point, those who aren't vaccinated are the ones who likely never wore the mask to begin with.

Are you saying it all goes here, as in this thread only?

Honestly, since the political side is a free for all - post whatever you want. All in this thread or start a new. Many will NOT read the political side at all but if linked to this thread will read it at least.

Fifth post in that thread that you keep mentioning.

Try to keep up.
