"House sends bill creating January 6 commission to the Senate"

The House voted Wednesday to approve legislation to establish an independent commission to investigate the violent insurrection on January 6 at the US Capitol, with 35 Republicans breaking with their party to support the bill.

The final vote was 252-175. The GOP defections showcased a significant break with Republican leadership in the chamber and former President Donald Trump, who urged members to vote against the legislation.
The bill now moves to the Senate where it faces an uncertain fate as GOP resistance is growing.

Good.

How is this so hard? Should be a no-brainer that we need this.

Unfortunately, "no-brainer" describes many Republican lawmakers these days.

There's something else Republican lawmakers are missing these days (besides integrity, duty to country, etc.). I don't remember where I saw it, but it was summed up nicely: "Kevin McCarthy took a trip to Mar-A-Lago to visit his balls."

And of course Mitch has come out against it, citing nebulous “ongoing investigations” and the usual Democratic partisanship, defined as calling verifiable traitors out.

“ Anonymous statement on Capitol Police letterhead roils Jan. 6 riot commission debate “

‘ “On Jan 6th, where some officers served their last day in US Capitol Police uniform, and not by choice, we would hope that Members whom we took an oath to protect, would at the very minimum support an investigation to get to the bottom of EVERYONE responsible and hold them 100 percent accountable no matter the title of position they hold or held,” reads the letter, which was not written or issued formally by the department. ‘

175 Republican Traitors vote to cover up the truth about the attempted overthrow of the U.S. Government.

It’s kind of funny. We had, what, seven congressional investigations of Benghazi (where 4 people died), but one formalized congressional investigation of the Capitol invasion and insurrection of Jan 6 is too many/too political.

Mmm.....oookay, then.

Ten senators have to go along for it to pass.

Not a chance

Yeah, that's for sure. At least Pelosi can now say the Democrats tried to go the nonpartisan route by passing this bill in the House with bipartisan support. And then she can name House committees to do the investigations that this commission would have done. Committees controlled by Democrats.

And an Executive branch and Department of Justice as well.

New game this time.

Exactly. The GOP is playing by last year's rules, duh.

Maybe. They've already used up a quarter of their time until the next cycle. They have less time to enact really meaningful legislation than it might appear.

mark them down, folks. 175 traitors to the Constitution have identified themselves. And need to be called out. Any time ANY of them says anything about supporting police, ask them why they didn't support this police officer who died protecting them.

Every time these votes come up, in addition to the person who's photo you've posted, this mental image also comes to mind:

... supporting the police, indeed.
