Lemon,

Sounds like Celebrity did its due diligence and went above and beyond when it came to Covid-19 safety protocols. As much I love cruises - and I enjoy them immensely - nobody in my family will be going on one for quite some time. We're even leery of traveling by land or air.

It's going to get worse as the court seems to be skeptical of the CDC's ability to put restrictions on sailings. That will give Florida gov. DeathSantis a stronger case to not allow cruises to require vaccination of passengers boarding in Florida (and possibly other states).

Two people out of how many? Seems like it's within the realm of what has been seen in other situations.

Unlikely that only these two are infected. Everybody tested negative at the beginning of the 7 day cruise, which would indicate infection was brewing in somebody but not yet detectable. It takes a few days for it to show up. Everyone who had contact with these two will need to be traced and retested and quarantine in the meantime and we know there will not be 100% compliance.

This is how the whole thing went global in 2020. Travelers.

Vaccine status of those two is unknown but not 100% of the passengers were vaccinated.

Why take this risk for a very ordinary vacation? It's too soon IMO.

I will give 2:1 odds that this couple faked their vaccination records.

If it turns out they were vaccinated, it means they had breakthrough infections.

3 weeks ago Royal Caribbean brought 1400 mostly unvaccinated crew members via ship to the US. All were supposed to get vaccinated before working any cruises. A few tested positive en route and were dropped off in Spain.

What are the odds that in this short time they were all fully vaccinated and cleared the waiting period before joining this cruise. Not enough time.

If that turns out to be the case, I hope the cruise line sues them for all costs involved in dropping them off, bad publicity, additional costs. Likewise, anybody on the cruise that has issues should join the suit.

Bankruptcy won't protect them either as the liability is based on an act of fraud.

The cruise line has been flip flopping all over the place on this policy trying to please Ron DeSantis, the CDC, the public and its mixed views on vaccines, etc.

I think this week they have changed back to vaccine required beginning Aug. 1.

But what about the global crew who come from places where nobody is vaccinated amd the virus is circulating?

We are just not ready, anybody should consider this a very risky activity.

Yes, faked. Two breakthroughs in one cabin? Most unlikely. The crew was happy to get western vaccines; no MAGAts in the crew.

From the article you posted:
"required end-of-cruise testing, the cruise line said Thursday"
So, others are not positive, at least not yet. But everyone has been tested. So is this really something to get worked up about?
