A good COVID story for a change

Quote

The couple were released from Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago early in September, with Jacqueline Jackson going home and the civil rights leader heading to the rehab facility for physical therapy due to his Parkinson's disease, according to a statement from Rainbow PUSH Coalition, Jackson's organization.
"Both my parents are ever so thankful for all of the prayers, cards and calls they have received during this very trying period of their lives, " son Jonathan Jackson said in the statement.
"We know it is a miracle that both of our parents are COVID-19 survivors, and we thank God for his healing. We also pray for the millions of people who have been infected with this virus and pray they too will also overcome," he added.
Jackson received his first Covid-19 vaccine dose in January at an event to promote African American confidence in vaccinations.

He received his first dose in January. Did he get a second dose? I assume so and that makes a good case for a booster.

All well and good, if that's how you want to roll, but how 'bout proselytizing vaccination.

Glory to God and God is good is fine, but throw a little love on science, medicine, and doctors and nursed who go where angels fear to tread.

Jackson is a very influential figure, and maybe a page from Chris Rock's 'don't go through what I went through' book, and say it out loud.

There are too many people who would get vaccinated, if only they got the word from somebody they trusted.

Now maybe the Jacksons are doing just that and I missed it.

If so, then I invoke the Emily Patella amendment.

(Yes, I know.)

You did. Article itself says they were vaccinated in January as out reach to the African-American community to get vaccinated.

Jackson gets vaccinated in January.

Jackson gets COVID in August.

Jackson recovers in August.

Jackson gives God the credit for his recovery, not getting vaccinated.

Not enough people know that Jackson might not have recovered, the Almighty notwithstanding, had he not been vaccinated.

Now is the time he should be singing the praises of vaccination.

Now, more than ever.

If he and/or his family is doing that, then I stand corrected.

I'm not going to "correct" you because it's not necessary. The Rev Jackson knows what he's doing, how it impacts his target range of influence and what the stakes are. 100% This is a brilliant man.

I look forward to see what happens from here, as we can use every bit of forward, positive momentum.
