I'm surprised by the durability of the local covid numbers

I live in a high vax area (in a moderate vax state) and out covid case numbers are high even if they didn't spike like they did in some places. Still, I'm waiting for the high numbers to recede and they remain stubbornly high. I'm sure part of it is school and colder weather but it still feels odd to be stuck in a plateau for a few weeks.

I read somewhere that they expect numbers to reliably decline in March 2022. Logically I understand this but emotionally that seems like forever from now.

It’s on the decline in places like Florida and Louisiana, similar to what happened in Missouri; all three states that were being crushed. Herd immunity?

Saint Cloud, Minnesota, where the weather is wonderful even when it isn't.
