This is a goddamn travesty of justice. At SO many levels.

There will be an immense ground swell of similar murders. Protesters will need to start arming themselves and taking sniper positions before marches take place, and target like minded killers.

Honestly we need to return to the wild wild west laws...

This was going to be a tough case notwithstanding some of the prosecutors’ missteps.

Still, two dead and one handicapped for life. I hope the city of Kenosha has good insurance…

One of my nutwhack FB friends posted a meme showing the two guys "attacking" Rottenhouse with the text something to the effect of "as if you needed more proof that it was self defense."

That conveniently ignores that Rottenhouse had already shot and killed a man and the two guys were just trying to take away his gun so he couldn't shoot anyone else.

If one were convicted, they could eventually appeal pretending the prosecution mishandles information, etc.

Does it work the other way around? can the prosecution appeal?

Was listing to AM radio show running an errand, and the callers all agreed with verdict. Not a wild crazy show, mostly a normal dude, so a bit surprised.

He got off track with trying to bring up the people who were killed how they were "bad" in their past lives, which somehow got several peeps going, but its completely irrelevant.

Then went on a tangent about the media hyping this up, which is exactly the point of what they do... so, meh.

Its just gonna bring so many crazy peeps out.

Sounds like the defense had lots of resources. Where do you think the $$$ came from to defend him?

Yet race and white privilege are very much in play. As i texted to my son earlier today, I have absolutely no doubt that if he had done what Rittenhouse did I would not be grieving this verdict today as my son would have been killed by the police that night.

I haven't followed the trial closely but the general sense of what I heard from those who have is that the Prosecution was not very effective and did not make a case beyond a reasonable doubt. Perhaps so but I believe the bar for reasonable doubt had an extra measure of height to clear. A white jury is likely to cut a scared white teen a break. It's a break that I know would not have been afforded a black teen by a jury with a similar make up.

Yes it was a political outcome and a stark reality for many of us to live with.

The DA who lost the OJ trial was reelected and his son Gil, who is now the US Ambassador to India, went on to become mayor of Los Angeles. Being either competent or incompetent as prosecutor doesen't seem to have much downside.

I would say both political and very much race based.

The protests going on in Kenosha were around the police shooting in the back and crippling of a Black man named Jacob Blake. I have no doubt those protesting were considered ‘race traitors’ by Rittenhouse’s ‘Kenosha Guard’ and Proud Boys cohorts.

BTW, I’ve seen a few things online saying there is no evidence that Rittenhouse is a white supremacist.

He may not have a carrying card (if there is one for such folks), but he sure likes to hang out with them and flash their signs:
