2024 - if not Biden, who?

Let's assume that Biden can not run in 2024.

That would open the race up. Obviously, Harris runs but who else jumps in? Who do you think could win it all?

I have serious doubts that Harris could win (and that was before her recent polling). I'm not even sure she could get the nomination against a viable opponent.

I just don't know who that opponent could be. If Bernie Sanders was 5 years younger, maybe

In American politics, policies and ability seem to be irrelevant to a large number of people.

Since loud and angry physicians seem to do well on the GOP ticket, how about Howard Dean? He might win over some Republican voters.

Another thought - Americans like tall, charismatic men. We need to get one of these to run for president. Are there any on the Democratic party side?

Biden is the only Democrat that can win in 2024. I believe that. We're gonna need all hands on deck. Republicans are pulling all the stops and will be ferocious.

His follow on replacement in 2024 was the *first* thing I thought of when he won. Harris is a no way, shes invisible. maybe on purpose. but seems to lack presence now that shes there.

I don't think Biden will run. Harris will build up her stature over the next year and basically force her way up. But I don't think she'll convince many. Schiff may consider it, King from Maine, as a Dem, not independent. Warnock? Gillibrand? I like that guy Rose, former congressman from NY, but that's a couple of cycles away, and he needs to be in Congress first.

Nobody in New York even knows what Gillibrand even looks like.

Harris's performance has not been notable, but then, what do you want from any vice-president? (Tell me the top 3 things you remember about Biden's 8 year VP term.)

At this point I think it's more likely that Biden will run again than not, but it's still very early so...

...if not Biden then Tulsi Gabbard. Just kidding. I think Amy Klobuchar would have a better chance than most people might be inclined to think.

I could strongly support Klobuchar. Biden has been telling his allies he's going to run. I think he wants to quiet the speculation.

I WANT A WOMEN PRESIDENT - I'm tired of testosterone in the presidency. We need a break from it.

that being said... I'm afraid it'll have to be Biden again if he's up for it. Dems need to unite around him.

To be clear - I am not saying the Biden shouldn't run, or isn't going to run - just asking what if he can't run due to health or something.

It would be the candidate who's supporters fought the most fiercely on behalf of. It would also depend on the political position within the party that candidate fell on.

On the Republican side a DeSantis would have to outbatshit Trump, which he's capable of doing because that's where the party is right now. But anyone would be hard-pressed to beat Trump.

On the Democratic side, it's really a math problem. Do the math and you'll have your candidate.

no Hillary, No Newsom.

I could get behind Klobuchar, but I don't think she'll get it.

On the democrat side, it's more difficult. there are too many factions.

On the republican side, you just need to cater to the trump idiots (MAGAts?) which is infinitely easier.

I was really hoping she'd be Biden's pick for VP, but it didn't happen.

Duckworth is amazing.

no Hillary, No Newsom.

Regardless of actual politics, the issue is that "politics" doesn't play a role in it anymore.... no matter what peeps might thing.

its a popularity contest. Drumpf proved that.

we might say "no" to both of these peeps based on politics, but they have the the name recognition. Nobody else really comes close. imho, I think Newsome could get a huge push if he called for it.

perhaps he's waiting for Drumpf to run.
