SCOTUS dysfunction: Gorsuch refuses to wear mask on the bench

He's the only one. As a result, Sotomayor, normally his neighbor, is hearing cases remote. Along with Breyer.

This is the same Gorsuch who wrote an article some years back lamenting the loss of civility in public life. In it he quoted a childhood lesson of George Washington's about not close talking to people so you won't get spit in their face.

Read that the other day. All part of the conservative narrative to downplay the importance of the issue … if there are no guarantees, they WON’T be “told what to do.” And that’s why they’ll come down against Biden’s directive for vaccinations.

I think it has been said before; it seems that now there are 5 justices appointed by R's, there is no longer a need to pretend to be civil.

Sonia Sotomayor is 67 and has diabetes. Imagine serving with her on the highest court and refusing to take an easy measure that would help prevent her and others from getting sick.

Something everyone else in the room does without issue.

This is far worse than making a political point. It is making things deeply personal. And I think that's a good metaphor for what is wrong with us now as a nation.

He thinks truly free thinkers think they can do what they prefer for themselves so they should do that, but I think truly free thinkers should freely decide to do that which is best for others when it involves minimal impact on yourself.

Either that or he's a conspiracy loonie.
