I'm outraged by this on so many levels. This is on the heels of the PPD leaking a false report about our first black woman city council member.

I think this problem of lack of police understanding the difference between active aggression and passive resistance is very deep and broad. I think for a lot of officers "active aggression" means not complying with their orders immediately and completely - there really is not much, if any, recognition of someone doing passive resistance.

You can push the police state underground, but it's never going away. That's where the Defunders get their strength. While it's an unpopular sentiment - and even more unpopular idea politically - the rationale for defunding is clear because this kind of police behavior just isn't going away by itself.

PPD knows it's easier to deliver a beat-down after you've demonized someone.

Portland is one of the most liberal leaning cities in the country. If it’s happening here, well. This is far from the first time. I’ve witnessed PPD’s unwarranted brutality first hand more than once. They’ve been giving the Proud Boys a pass and cops have been caught tipping them off.
