Every witness, including reeve's wife, gave a different account to the one Reeves himself gave. Not one supported his version. Yet the jury took his version.

They got in an argument (over the victim texting in a movie theater). The texter threw a bag of popcorn at him!

I’d call that a good kill.

Reeves whined about being a helpless and weak old man. Since the shooting he has gone hunting several times, climbing up a treestand in the process.

I think the jury just didn't want to give the 79-year-old ex-cop a life sentence since the minimum was 25-years.

PS- I didn’t realize the shooting took place eight years ago (!), during which time the shooter stayed out of jail.

Not the typical 12 jurors?

His argument was that the popcorn reasonably made him fear for his life.

I guess he's allergic.

The way these laws are written juries have no choice but to acquit. It’s legalized murder. Just claim you felt threatened.

‘ The vast majority of the public, they don’t understand how this law is applied,” Escobar said. “They don’t understand the danger someone is perceiving doesn’t even have to be actual. As long as the perception of the shooter is that he reasonably feared for his life, the law protects you. ... There’s a lot of wisdom in this law ‘
