Dismantling anything that gets in the way of increasing their wealth: environmental regulations, product safety, minimum wages, consumer protection, banking regulations, etc.

The next priority is to rig the vote to disenfranchise demographics that vote anything left of center-right. I'm sure there's still work they'd like to do there.

The only hope is to expand the court, really, to dilute the lying extremists that have been installed. You'll never get enough of them to die or retire in time to save the progress we have had made, even more so when the country electoral college keeps handing the Presidency back to the Republicans every 4-8 years no matter how crappy the last Republican was.

Yep, when his doctor said "239 lbs." I think he transposed those last two digits.

I had a friend in DC who used to work in government. He said it was going to take YEARS to undo what had been masterminded by the conservative Right in regards to judicial appointments. We had this conversation during the presidency of Bush II.

SCOTUS will end up having to deal with Olgothorpe, Griswald and potentially Loving simple because of the Fifth Court of Appeals. A southern state will do something stupid in regards to those and the ultra-conservative fifth will uphold while other appeals court will overrule it. That sets up SCOTUS.

I really don't think the majority will overturn those. Thomas and Alito will vote too, but I don't see Roberts or KavBenGor going along (although Griswald is questionable)

As a person who came from a multi generational Democrat family it pains me to vote red at times but I'm afraid there are few choices when every damn democrat seems intent on ramming some transgender bs on the world, or seriously screwing up even simple things. Trump was a response. That few seemed to learn from.

It seems to me that transgender discussion in the news is a fairly recent thing, not necessarily something Democrats have been ramming for years. So, I looked at google.



As you can see, there was a rather abrupt increase in searches around 2015. Hmm. What would have suddenly got people buzzing? It just so happens it correlates with Caitlyn Jenner's transition.



Caitlyn Jenner, coincidentally, is a Republican.

So, I have a guy I play hockey with, and he told me he was upset because the local NHL team had a night benefiting the local Children's group at the University of Minnesota. He was upset because among the million other things they do, they have a transgender clinic for kids and their parents.

As far as I know, they won't do transgender surgery on a possibly transgender minor, but in rare kids, they may give them puberty blockers, which delays the secondary sexual characteristics (breasts, penis enlargement, hair, etc) that can be seriously troubling for these kids as they turn into adults of what they don't identify with. It's not permanent - if they go off blockers, puberty happens. But this gives them some time to (mentally and age-wise) become adults so they can make any big decision then.

And this, I think, is the difference between Dems and Repubs. Some of the latter consider this child abuse, and several states have legislation pending or in place that defines it as just that; some have called for the imprisonment of such parents and/or the state taking custody of their children.

They don't give these kids puberty blockers just because the parents wanted a boy and got a girl or vice versa; these kids are often suicidal because they feel trapped in a body of the opposite sex, and these rare cases are supervised by a team of highly trained specialists.

Not to dump on chopper (above), but Dems are not "ramming" anything. They're standing back while medical professionals try to do what's best for these kids based on current understanding.

Is it the best thing? I dunno - but I'm pretty sure the angry talkers on radio don't know either. But GOP politicians want us to consider this child abuse by the doctors, and by the parents who are trying to do the best for the child that they love who feels trapped. And it's become one of this year's red meat items to rile people up.

I dunno - I just don't get it.

- Pulmonary valve atresia and stenosis = 1 in 1,052 births
- Trisomy 21 (Down syndrome) = 1 in 707 births

I think the fact that TG persons are in the news/society at a rate 1,000s of times more than, using DeusxMac's numbers, persons with Spina bifida, Pulmonary valve atresia and stenosis, or Trisomy.

Well, just to be clear, while it certainly may be true that they’re in the news more often, oftentimes it’s because they’ve been the subject of discrimination, bullying, or assault, which may not befall those with the other conditions as often.

But as he shows, folks affected with gen der dysphoria are probably fewer in number than folks with those other conditions.
