Their group approached him after spotting him chatting to a group of teenagers who looked 'uncomfortable', as Miu reportedly asked them for 'young girls' numbers.

When asked how he came to be in contact with the other people on the river, Miu stated that he was attempting to find a phone lost by a member of his own group. Miu reiterated numerous times that he felt in fear for his own safety, stating that his actions were in self-defense and that “they attacked me.”

…The criminal complaint states that the audio of the video indicates that people were expressing “he was looking for little girls”. Two females appear to confront Miu. The complaint states that the clip of a knife is visible in Miu’s right cargo pocket. Soon after, he removes the knife, opens it, and then holds it down by his right side.

… Miu denied having a knife in his own possession and told law enforcement that he took two different knives away from other people during the incident, stating that he was attacked by them. The complaint states that Miu did not have any information as to what happened to those knives following the incident.

Two members of Miu’s group became aware of the confrontation that was occurring between Miu and the other group of people, and went to check on him, however, by the time they reached him, he was already moving away from the area where the incident occurred and when asked what had happened, he stated, ‘nothing, nothing.’
