‘ The Georgia Department of Revenue released new guidance this week establishing that the agency "will recognize any unborn child with a detectable human heartbeat ... as eligible for the Georgia individual income tax dependent exemption."

An individual at least six weeks pregnant on or after July 20 through Dec. 31, 2022, can list the fetus as a dependent on their tax returns starting next year, the agency said. ‘

What, so it's not worth a deduction until heartbeat? Should be retroactive to the date of the last period, just to be certain the entire life since conception is properly recognized.

This is one agency making a regulatory ruling, an agency captured by one party. It's not directly indicative of how people may vote in a general election.

So won't this encourage people to get pregnant, snag the deduction, and then terminate the pregnancy in some amoral blue state? This must be at least as enticing as that child support thing was said to be.

Didn’t God do it? Can God be charged and tried?

More likely that doctors will refuse to treat her miscarriage for fear of prosecution, and she will die along with the fetus.

Gonna have to do a cost benefit analysis on that one. If the pregnancy ends before the end of the tax year, does it count?

Conceive on Samhain and take a vacation for the winter break after Yule?

I expect some guy to have a dozen embryo's implanted just before Thanksgiving, have a verification ultrasound on Dec. 31, then have them removed in Kansas just after New Years.
