very serious charges filed

Garland excerpts: 2min video [www.youtube.com]

"We allege that Ms. Taylor's Fourth Amendment rights were violated when defendants Joshua Jaynes, Kyle Meany and Kelly Goodlett sought a warrant to search Ms. Taylor's home knowing the officers lacked probable cause for the search," Garland said.

The affidavit falsely claimed officers had verified that the target of their drug trafficking investigation had received packages at Taylor's address, but Jaynes and Goodlett knew that was not true, Garland said.

They fail to understand respect is earned.

Saint Cloud, Minnesota, where the weather is wonderful even when it isn't.

I think to the degree that police object to taking these kinds of events and them being generalized as a "police thing", there is validity to the objection. A lot of police officers behave in a way that shows they show the public respect and deserve respect in turn. But I think that too many police officers don't recognize or want to to deal with widely systemic problems in many police organizations. Unfortunately, the reticence to acknowledge the scope of the problems that do exist hurts the perception of them with many in the public at large.

These charges are only happening because we have a Democrat in the White House, and his appointees at DOJ.

Elections have consequences.

I didn't realize this until I just saw it on "All In" but Daniel Cameron, the Kentucky AG who wouldn't charge the officers, is a Republican who is a "rising star" in the GOP and has big political ambitions beyond the AG position.

As more facts are made public in this case, he is going to iook worse and worse.

Yes, many officers do behave personally in a manner that respects the public and deserve some respect for that. But too many of those officers will look the other way when another officer fails to act that way towards the public, and lose much of my respect for that reason. Until they start acting to clean up their own mess, it will stay that way as far as I am concerned.
