First Pfizer vs Moderna? When I got boosted I went with Moderna. If you ask me if I want a medium or large vaccination, I'll go with large. Yes, its debatable whether Moderna is better although it did have some better numbers.

I just checked availability around here. Everything is being booked a couple of weeks out. Is that due to lack of availability? Or is it just part of planning for dispensing the vaccine?

I guess I should make an appointment by end of day. I have a trip to Europe in October and want to be vaxxed to the max before I get into a metal tube with other humans.

I would agree with this, though anecdotally, it seems more people are having a stronger reaction to the Moderna... could be something about the vaccine or in the formulation of the injection itself.

If I remember correctly, the Moderna was literally a larger dose.

My reaction to the Moderna booster was minimal. I think I felt off for a couple of hours.

I just came back from my booster appointment. They had no availability of the Moderna bivalent booster but they were still allowing people to get Moderna original boosters if that's what they wanted. I went with the Pfizer bivalent. Weirdly, I didn't feel a thing but my wife said her shot really hurt.

At this point, it's probably best just to have an updated version without the brand mattering as much. Omicron 5 is really good at jumping from person to person. Several people I know went with the mix approach and they are all alive and well.

Just scheduled mine for Monday, but I could have gone anytime starting tomorrow morning. It will be for the Moderna version. I may go ahead and get my shingles shot at the same time, may as well be sick just once.

Wife and I had 4 previous Moderna shots with, soreness aside, little if any aftermath. We recently went for the booster and the pharm only had Pfizer bivalent. She took her shot and because I didn't have my ins card with me I didn't.

The following day she was only bit effected, by day two she was hit with fever, inability to take meds or food and nausea along with breathing difficulty - this went on through days 2 & 3 we were close to an ER visit. It wasn't til days 4 & 5 she started to come out of it, today is day 6 and she's getting back to but not quite normal.

This is anecdotal. She has a number of medical issues that have left her quite fragile so it's possible the Pfizer either wasn't a factor or could have been a trip point, whichever it was we'll probably never know.

I know I'll be getting Moderna for my next boost.

Wow, that definitely doesn't sound like a typical reaction, and makes me wonder if something was wrong with that particular batch of Pfizer and/or the person administering screwed up in some way.

When I said that anecdotally, more people are having a stronger reaction to the Moderna, I wasn't necessarily referring to adverse reactions -- only that I've heard more people having the typical, 1-2 day post-shot malaise/fatigue/headache/arm soreness.

I've had all Moderna shots including two boosters. Just got the Bivalent Moderna booster last week. Had the usual arm soreness but for the first time my arm was red, swollen and itchy for 3-4 days. No other reaction to the shot. All fine now.

All Team Pfizer here, and am scheduled next week for Pfizer this time, too.

Pfizer for first three shots, then Moderna and today at 4pm I got the bivalent Pfizer because that was what they had. My reactions have all been similar — arm aches and maybe a little fatigue immediately afterward. I’m going to Europe in October too so I wanted the strongest protection for the travel.

I had a very unusual reaction by combining the Covid Moderna and shingles shot. The pharmacist put them both in the same arm, which was probably the problem. I’d advise separating these shots by at least a week, based on the pain and swollen lymph nodes I experienced.

They shouldn't have been doing that. Authorization for the original booster has been withdrawn for ages 12+.

Had a lot of choices at the local Walgreens, but when I went over there they only had the Moderna version. I preferred sticking to Pfizer so went to Kroger where neither was available, then signed up at another Walgreens (lots of times available) where wife and i got the flue and Covid Booster #3 (that's what I call it). Both arms are sore tonight but that will not interfere with sleep (well, let's see how it goes when I roll over!).

Needed to sit down for a minute or two after first receiving the shots but was fine thereafter. Let's see how tomorrow goes. If it is like the other three shots, the soreness will start to fade with no other effects. I can hope!

Probably won't go to the gym for a workout though.

Our CVS is out of doses but I’m scheduled for Tuesday at a Walgreens.

Around here it seems only Pfizer is available.
I wasn’t going to get one for a few days anyway, but I also wanted the Moderna.
Maybe it will be available in about a week or so, when I was thinking I would get it.

PSA: I was so smart that I asked for the flu shot along with the booster. Then my wife told me it’s too early to get the flu shot now because the immunity it offers will probably wear off before the flu season is over. At least this is what Dr. Michael Osterholm has been saying. YMMV.

Here in the Deep South, I had same-day options available to me, had I wanted them.

I got the Pfizer bivalent booster. The previous three shots were Moderna. This was the first COVID19 shot that had me feel only slightly under the weather. The last Moderna booster, particularly, was very unpleasant.
