“First we need to make sure that those who want to lead us are genuinely committed to fighting for the priorities & values of the working Americans (of every background) who gave us big wins in states like Florida.”

IOW, it's not Trump's fault but rather the Party leadership's fault, so they need to be replaced by me new leadership. Oh yeah, and though I'm cowardly not overtly saying I'm moving away from Trump - that DeSantis guy in Florida is the bees knees.

“What we want to make sure of is that every member of Congress is treated fairly and equally,” Freedom Caucus Chair Scott Perry (R-Pa.) said on Thursday. “Increasingly, over decades, it has been that power — that voice — has been concentrated in leadership in both the Senate and the House.”

I don't think making sure every member of Congress the Republican caucus is treated fairly and equally works with Republicans expecting other Republicans to fall in line with the Party line (while Democrats fall in love - as another poster mentioned recently). One of the particular strengths of the Republican Party is that they stay together - which was probably brought on by the necessity of trying to get and retain power while being a minority party. It seems plausible to me that the reason power has been concentrating in Republican leadership is because they had to. I just think if Hawley gets what he says he wants (which is probably different from what he actually wants), that the Republican Party will turn into even much more of a squabbling mess than the Democrats routinely are.

Those two images could fairly be captioned…

1. You’re my man Donald. I’m loyally with you (as long as it helps me).

2. There’s a dangerous Donald back there. Run away!

I vote for Josh Hawley for minority leader - anyone that thinks they can do better than McConnell has my vote. McConnell has proven to be a very difficult adversary for dems. If the repubs wanna throw that away, I won't get in the way.

I think it's time to bury Josh Hawley.

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan
