Well, I feel a little better about 2024.

I just listened to a brief interview with the Director of Polling at the Harvard Kennedy School (okay, maybe a tad biased) and as long as the youth keep coming out to vote, we might be okay.

Youth voters gave Democrats a midterms boost. What does it mean for 2024?

I feel good about it too. I think 2024 will be epic good. But, you know, young people fueled Obama greatly in 2008. By 2010 they tuned out. They frequently think it's easier to legislate than it really is. So, hopefully, not this time.

I think young people are now highly motivated, as they see the way the winds have been blowing with Republican stands on things like abortion, student loan debt, LGTBQI+ issues, etc.

A lot more of GenZ will achieve voting age by 2024. That's a plus for our side.

Also, a lot of Republicans are worried that Trump is going to sink the party's hopes in 2024 and are going to try to find an alternative candidate who can beat him. So then the base will be furious and stay home. OR Trump will start his own party and split the vote.

OR Trump will be in prison, please God. I don't think any of the other possibilities will energize the base like he does, and a lot of them will be home planning their next failed insurrection instead of voting.

The way our luck has been, prison would probably help him.

what this discussion did not address was geography. there are more and more clumps of one side or another, clustered not only by states, but in cities versus countryside. yes, more votes for D in that cohort, but where will they be voting and will it be sufficient to overcome all of the other side votes in that county/state?
