my fav part of 45's announcement - we're barely talking about him

At this point he's a known quantity - no matter what nonsense comes out of his mouth. What is there to talk about?

But, now we are...

I watched his speech and I was struck by how "normal" (for a regular politician--not normal for him) it sounded. I don't think he called anybody any names and I don't remember him saying anything about a stolen election. He did say, numerous times, that he was the best president and his administration was the best ever and America was better than it had ever been with him as president. And he did say that Biden isn't doing a good job and America in now failing. But it all sounded like some typical braggart politician to me. Of course, it went on for a long time and I likely glazed over some so maybe I missed some of his personal stuff. But I wonder if he's going to try to rehabilitate himself by moving past the stolen election thing. I think it's well too late for that (and I don't think he'll be able to help himself in any case) but it will be interesting to see what he tries to do. I truly hope that he just fizzles out and finally takes his ball and goes home. I'm really tired of him and his minions.

I want him to stick around the race creating as much chaos and damage to the GOP as possible going into 2024.

I'm relishing Trump's disintegration but I'm disgusted that - as I've heard a few commenters say - the Republicans didn't turn on Trump through so many awful things he has done, they didn't even turn on him when he sought to end our democracy, but a bunch of loopy candidates he pushed lost in the last election and, oh my, that they can't tolerate. Disgusting, spineless @#$%&.

@ Michael

Are you sure we listened to the same insane speech?
These are some specific quotes:

•'cities are 'cesspools of blood'

•'We call it The China Virus'

•'radical left Democrats'

•'you can't get a turkey this year!'

•'10 million illegal alien criminals'

•'It makes you rage with anger'

•'clean out the DOJ and FBI'

•'Voter ID, same day voting and only paper ballots'

•'all votes counted by election night!'

and that's only a few

^ this.

Ultimately, Trump’s fatal flaw to the GOP was causing them to lose elections. All that other stuff they were willing to not only put up with, but enthusiastically embrace. They got their big tax cut and conservative judges, and they were delighted. Embracing Putin? Cool w me. Dangling a quid-pro-quo of military aid (to Ukraine!) for a political dirty trick? We can overlook that. An attack on our Capitol and democracy? No, they were “patriots”.

But losing the House, Senate, and presidency? A Republican mortal sin. Trump who?

That was Teleprompter Don we saw the other night. He read his entire speech, something he doesn't do well as one TV commentator said - kind of flat and boring IMO. When people tried to leave before he was through, they were told they couldn't leave. I don't see how he can go nearly two more years with such a lackluster start.
