“Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented." - Eli Weisel

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." - Theodore Roosevelt (1918)

"The civil complaint is at least the third around the massacre that seeks damages from a number of parties. One federal lawsuit filed earlier this week alleges nearly two dozen people and entities, including the gun manufacturer and store that provided the rifle used in the attack, were negligent and failed to protect a student who was killed.

Other families filed a similar lawsuit in September."

The gun manufacturer should be put out of business, at the least.

over 100 police, with bullet proof gear, state of the art weapons, sat outside for nearly an hr while kids were being murdered.
Proof that a well trained teacher with a 9mm is a lot better than calling 911

Proof of nothing of the kind. The logical fallacies present in such an argument I will leave to others to point out. All that was proved by this was that failures in leadership and organization can have deadly consequences.

Continued Proof that not allowing weapons of such organized destruction in the hands of crazed children is the best solution.

NONE of these child murderers should have had access to guns. None of them.

Sniper training should be part of the college curriculum for new teachers. All faculty and staff, from teacher to lunch lady, must pass and maintain firearm certification. All faculty and staff should spend a minimum number of hours at the shooting range as part of that certification. All faculty and staff will be issued a 9mm service pistol, which shall be loaded and properly holstered on their person at all times. This is the only way to solve this problem in the only country where this happens regularly.

There was a survey of 5,100 educators in a Texas school district, 76% said they do not want to have guns.

It's hard to believe we have a dire, emergency level shortage of people willing to work in public education.

We are failing this next generation on so many levels. Unaddressed gun violence is just one part of it.

Uvalde was a symptom, the disease is chronic and unmanaged.

More guns!

Teachers with guns & body armor!

Claymore mines at school entrances!

(this is the rosy vision of the future held by gun nutz)

And yet I believe two, unarmed, guys takes down the Club Q shooter.

I'm going to disagree with anyone on the armed teacher thing though. As a avid gun owner myself I cannot imagine too many teachers, even after extensive training, pulling out a pistol in their classroom and unloading on a suspect.

Even to this day if I think something is going on outside my home my BP rises and I get shaky just arming myself and checking things out and I've been handling firearms for 50 years.

I know teachers, I worked with teachers - you do not want to give them guns AND if you do, you better take them away after lunch.

Of course, the discipline issue will be taken care of.

Most teachers would not want, or e suitable for being armed in class, but at Parkland, at least one teacher was a retired Army ranger. I bet this guy would be aa teacher willing and able to protect children. Stoneman Douglas even had an ROTC marksman club and dozens of .177 air rifles on campus for target practice.

Ys, so? Any evidence that teacher wanted to carry a gun, and would have had the necessary training to use it in a school attack. Military training is not usually appropriate in these circumstances. Again you make an assumption that has no apparent facts to back it up.

You think the retired Army ranger is the only teacher in the USA possibly capable and willing to train to protect students in schools with a gun? Some training and I bet at least 1/2 of public schools have at least 1 teacher willing to train and carry to protect students. At MSD teachers stepped up defenceess to protect their students. Clearly the police we have now are not up to the task

We should pass a law outlawing gun ownership for anyone under 18, even hand guns for anyone under 21. Make murder illegal too.

How about 1 or 2 or 3 trained staff at each school with access to the tools needed to stop a threat to students. Far less than 24% of teachers

Well he is the only example you provided. Nice moving of the goal posts. As for "willing to train", that is not a job qualification.
