Donald Trump is going to make the Electoral College vote close once again.

I try not to think about it since I don't see him getting the nomination. I do, however, see him running as a third party or independent and stealing enough votes from whoever is the Republican candidate. Try not to think about him so much...not healthy.

Let it be the running concern. He and the GOP must be stopped.

if he runs as GOP, we could be in trouble.

if he runs as an independent, we could be saved from a disaster.

Trump has an almost unbroken record of failure in business and in politics. And it’s not getting any better.

I don’t spend energy worrying about this particular problem.

That's how he got elected in the first place.

We'll underestimate the threat of this man at our peril. We have no idea what this can transmogrify itself into. He's a metastasizing cancer. Now the entire world is fighting his army.

He’s a clown. He always was, but not everyone realized it.

So now, he’s a clown in decline.

Sad!

It's possible but it seems likely to me that it is almost certain that a majority of independents would vote against him and even a couple to few extra percent of Republicans would vote against him as well - if that is the case, then there is no way he would win even with the horrible skewing toward Republicans due to the Electoral College.

But he only loses if ya get out the votes to vote against him so I'm all in for getting out the votes.

Actually, I'm feeling like Trump only has about a 40% chance of getting the Republican nomination. But he is such a danger that I take that 40% pretty seriously.

I would feel more secure with someone other than Biden, his age is going to be a serious issue.

I fully understand why you think it less than 50/50. Who could possibly vote to put this guy at the top of the ticket? But I'm ready to predict that if he runs, he is the presumptive GOP nominee.

If he runs, but doesn't get the nom, there's hardly a chance that he doesn't run as a third party candidate.

Same. There has to be someone. I would probably vote for Mitt Romney before I would vote for Trump. But if Hillary ran, I'd sit it out again.

The threat might be that the moderates and independents do sit out the vote rather than vote for another old white guy (even one who is getting a lot done).

If Trump and Biden run, there’ll be two old white guys running, only one of which is a dangerous, obnoxious narcissist.

Well, Hillary isn't going to run so the point is moot. However, sitting out is close to the same thing as voting for Trump. People don't understand that in the awful american winner-take-all election system your vote in the final election is always a vote AGAINST the candidate that you least want to win, not a vote FOR the person you like. Only in ranked choice or parliamentary systems do you vote FOR candidates.

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

I'm not forgetting, but Trump does not look that old. Honestly, he looks 10-15 years younger than Biden and appearance is very important.

In Trump's case, it's the fat that makes him look younger. Puffs out the wrinkles. Biden needs to bulk up.

I understand what you mean, but I would rather have a wrinkled old dude who is a halfway decent human being, than the orange blumposaurus who would sell out his grandmother for a quick buck.

Sitting out is nothing like voting for either candidate. If you were a Trump supporter, you'd say sitting out was like voting for Biden. Not voting is exactly like not voting. Neither candidate gets your support. This is a fact.

The party that put Hillary up against Trump, and who will probably put Biden up against Trump again, is not worthy of support. Brain dead. Brain dead or brain deader. What a choice.
