AZ: Senate Republicans agree to ban books with gender fluidity, pronouns

Umm…pronouns? Like all pronouns?

No, just gender pronouns:

Quote

She they want to give parents the power to request the removal of any book that “promotes” gender fluidity or the use of gender pronouns, includes content they deem too lewd for their children to be exposed to, or that would “groom children into normalizing pedophilia.”

The legislation does not define “gender pronouns,” but the term is generally understood to mean words that reference someone’s gender, such as he/him/his or she/her/hers. Non-gendered…pronouns are most often used by people who identify outside of a gender binary [and are not addressed in the bill.]

As pointed out by this AZ Mirror opinion writer:

Quote

The Arizona Senate has passed a bill that presumably would allow a parent to request that any book containing the words “he” or “she” – or “his” or “hers” – be forever banned from Arizona’s public schools.

The bill’s author:

Wadsack.
…(No, really, that’s her name!)

Wadsack, a group of the new “culture warriors” infecting AZ politics (and “a proponent of the violent QAnon conspiracy”) is “very proud of her bill”, which passed the Senate on a straight party-line vote. If it makes it past the AZ House, the governor has already said she will veto it.

Wadsack is not bothered that Arizona has already passed a fairly draconian policy regarding getting any books into their school libraries. She’s got her thing to do, and with woke perverts hiding around every corner, too much is never enough.

I think Senator Christine Marsh (D-Phoenix), former AZ Teacher of the Year, describes the problems with this law (and similar ones already passed) well:

Quote

“There is absolutely nothing wrong with a parent deciding a certain book is not right for her child. There is a colossal problem with a parent deciding that, therefore, no child should be able to read that book,” she said.

This is nothing more than a continued campaign to repeal the first amendment of the US constitution. And needs to be treated as such.

Oh yeah, and it's heavy duty TREASON. Oath breaking..

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; "

Some more pix and info on Wadsack:

From Ballotpedia:

Her Morticia-Addams-in-the-desert look.

Wadsack served on the board of directors for the Log Cabin Republicans of Tucson.

That’s…interesting.

From Votesmart:

Quote

Religious, Civic, and other Memberships:
Member, University of Arizona Marching Band

Heh. Good for her. But she should get out more, apparently, since that’s the only entry.

One of my faves, from Wikipedia:

“Wadsack at the 2022 Hazlitt Summit hosted by Young Americans for Liberty Foundation” meeting, Florida

She’s also on the AZ-17 [district] “Freedom Team”

You know, for someone so pro-liberty and pro-freedom, she seems kinda restrictive on books.

Finally, she says she was the target of “racist insults” and [multiple!] attacks by Antifa, which is what necessitated her renting a place in the district she was elected to. The incumbent Republican she narrowly defeated says she didn’t even really live in the district, but that’s just sour grapes, I guess.

“The Log Cabin Republicans (LCR) is an organization within the Republican Party which advocates for equal rights for LGBT+ Americans.”

“We believe equality for LGBT Americans is in the finest tradition of the Republican Party. We educate our Party about why inclusion wins. Opposing gay and lesbian equality is inconsistent with the GOP's core principles of smaller government and personal freedom.”

How is this not the evil "political correctness" that reactionaries get hives about?

[dictionary.cambridge.org]

Quote

Someone who is politically correct believes that language and actions that could be offensive to others, especially those relating to sex, gender, and race, should be avoided.

The bill in the OP sure seems to fit that definition. But I guess it only applies to liberals. Like "activist judges is the bad" only applies to what are perceived by them to be judicial decisions that don't like.

Log Cabiners are more closely aligned with the Libertarian branch (Rand & Ron Paul) of the GOP.

One of my brothers, a retired CPA, once danced around an invitation to join them. Trump's arrival on the GOP scene quickly disabused him of that notion.

Actually, I read Sagan once where he wrote they were originally going to put (I think he described it as) "a quarter inch vertical line" in the woman's crotch, but people had an absolute cow about it, so they went with the airbrushed version.

I guess the aliens should feel lucky they at least got to see the man's junk.

'Parental rights are supreme, and that means protecting the interests of all parents, whether its one, 10, 20 or 50,' said school board president Barney Bishop.

I can’t fathom the level of idiocy it would require to send a kid to a school where any randomly moronic parent could alter curriculum on a whim.
