Today I learned the recent win was for the second lawsuit she filed after he left the office.

the first one, from 2020, while he was still in the office and DOJ tried to delay things, went to some appelas and it is now back in the same court with the same judge as lawsuit #2 she just won.

If he cannot keep his mouth shut, she should sue him every single time.

Now how do you force him to pay? that is the question.

I am hoping the finding specifically says that he must pay it from his own personally declared income and prove it by IRS records. No “donations”…

This could be the gift that keeps on giving.

Every time he loses, he makes culpable disparaging remarks, and is civilly libel.

Geeze, I'd hope so.

Not having any civil court experience, it just seems to me that 'punitive' is meant to punish the defendant, and somebody else picking up the tab doesn't really accomplish that.

Punitive in the case of civil judgments denotes penalties that exceed any provable financial loss under the primary civil finding. Collecting judgments is always an issue and enforcing those sort of terms - while admirable - would be well-neigh impossible.

Nevertheless, stating that he must pay from his own funds would be nice for the emphasis on Trump's personal responsibility, and it might discourage others from donating to him.

Small cuts, I know, but still...

why would she put herself through that process again? She got what she wanted - a court to say that Trump lied. I can't imagine she would think going through it again would be worth the effort.

Because otherwise he'll never shut up and will continue urging his disciples to attack her. She needs to sue him again and the judgment needs to include a gag order on him in addition to monetary damages and perhaps costs for protection from the MAGAts.

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

I think you're way wrong... if she just lives her life, the Trumpers will eventually forget about her. They will move on to the next shiny object. But if she reacts to every damned thing he does, she stays in the spotlight. She's 79 - why would she want to spend the rest of her life fighting Trump?

I would think that each successive "incident" should cost the Orange Menace more, and more each time around......

Until Trump stops. Clearly Trump hasn't been smacked down hard enough to stop his childish, bullying behaviors.....

Which he will continue to do until it hurts him enough to want to stop, instead of feeling that hurt.

Her attorney is doing the fighting. Most of this would just be proving the attacks and she would just need to say they caused her fear and further indignity. She would likely get another million (and Trump would have to pay her attorney fees).

This would not be proving rape again, just that he continues to harass her and encourage others to as well.

He assaulted her, publicly ridiculed her, put her life at risk, and he's (allegedly) assaulted numerous other women and insults and endangers others multiple times each day.

She's fighting a good fight. Why stop before he does?

This is part and parcel of what she signed up for when she first went against the Orange Bully. He has always managed to get away with it and now he’s of an age where he cannot conceive that any rules apply to him. He will never just shut up, never back down. Even if it would be in his best interest—he just cannot do it.

Unfortunately the brainwashed will keep following him, and emulating their “hero”. He does what they can only wish to be able to do, or secretly want to do but don’t dare. If something happens to her, I want to see the OB brought up on charges of bodily injury even if it is “natural”—a case can be made that he may have shortened her life with all the harassment and fear he’s throwing in her direction. This is what bullies do, and unfortunately a sizable portion of the population are bullies.

So yeah, every time he opens his mouth about her slap him with increasing fines and penalties. This can be a money making proposition, and certainly not to the greatest loser. Every threat to her life, her peace and/or her sanity that arises from this—both the perpetrators AND the OB should be put on trial, as he is certainly egging them on with these continuing harassments.

Greatest respect to E Jean!

Because you can't expect her to sacrifice the rest of her life for "the good fight". Why spend her last years in complete misery? Someone else can torture trump. Not to mention even this kind of thing that should hurt him actually seems to make him stronger, so it's a pretty poor political tactic.

It should also be noted that she's NOT an average person with a private life. She's lived most of her adult life in varying degrees of a public spotlight. She was a NYC public figure long before her ill fated encounter with someone who is/was essentially a NYC crime boss. Camera

Who says she's miserable?

She practically glowed with that beatific smile as she left the courtroom.

Who are we to tell her she doesn't have a calling?

Here, I must disagree. The Trumpers will NOT forget about her because the OB will not forget about her. He will not shut up; this is the basis of the "they won't let me speak at the trial" crap--he WILL say something stupid and incriminate himself, and thus would have lost the trial at that point. We all can agree that this is the real reason why he did not appear at the trial. His lawyer tried very hard to NOT lose the case just because his client is a jackass.

If she backs down to try to live her life, the OB will take that as a capitulation and will pour it on her. The less she says, the more he "wins" in his own mind. EVENTUALLY he will get tired of the "game" and move onto another one. Her life will be smeared, the reputation shattered, any legacy will be shame and ridicule--just one more "conquest" in a long line of "conquests." He will attempt to annihilate her--socially, reputationally, emotionally. She knew this when she pressed to take it to court. If she didn't then her lawyer should have pointed it out to her.

I will repeat it: HE IS A BULLY AND THIS IS WHAT BULLIES DO! If you have never been the object of a bully's attention, then good for you, but I can tell you from experience that backing down will only incite the bully to more extreme behavior. Some may grow out of it, but at his age he never will. No one has ever made him accountable for the damage he does and in his own mind NO ONE EVER WILL.

You cannot fight a bully with silence, even when you logically would think that you have won.

The fight has just begun.

Let him yak it up. I want to see him get sued again. Be that thorn in his side.

If you stop to think about what MIGHT happen to you, then you won't do anything. He's counting on it. He counted on it years ago, he's counted on it with everyone he's done this to, and he's counting on it now. Do nothing, and he wins.

well, we will surely find out how Carroll feels about it in the near future. I say she does not re-sue. I will admit I'm wrong if the time comes, but I think she got what she wanted and will be happy with what she achieved.
