A 9-year-old shot a 6-year-old in the head, killing him, Florida police said, in the latest example of a child using a firearm with fatal consequences.

… “Initial investigation determined the two juveniles were located inside of the residence in the care of an adult,” Stronko said. “One of the juveniles was able to obtain a firearm and fired a single shot, striking the victim. There is no indication of criminal violence.”

I guess that means it was a good kill?

In Florida, firearms kept inside the home are required to be stored in a locked box container or secured with a trigger lock if the owner knows, or reasonably should know, that a child under the age of 16 can gain access to the firearm.

It’s a second degree misdemeanor. (Whew! Throw the book at him!) Besides, this is obviously an unconstitutional infringement on my second amendment rights.

As of 2015, as many as 4.6 million children across the United States lived in homes with at least one loaded, unlocked firearm, according to one study.

As it should be. What’s the point of having a loaded firearm at home if it’s not available at a moment’s notice? The fact that nearly every day a child finds such a firearm and shoots themselves or someone else in this country? It’s just the price our children have to pay for our freedumbs and our ability to protect them.

Think I exaggerate?

According to nonprofit group Everytown for Gun Safety, nearly one child gains access to a loaded firearm and unintentionally shoots themselves or someone else every day in the United States — an average of 350 children a year.

Yikes. I didn’t know this type of incidents are so common. I wonder how parents feel afterwards - it must be very tough on them.

Clearly in many cases the gun is more important than the child. You have no right to have children but you have the right to be a gunner.

Not a new problem; my favorite cousin found his dad's .22 pistol, hidden, but unlocked, high up in the master bedroom closet, while he was left home alone at 12 years old....., and shot himself in the head. Rest of the family returned to find him dead on the floor.

That was in the 1950's.

Got kids and guns?
Lock 'em up properly at all times.....
otherwise you make have to find a new favorite cousin/friend/relative.

So sad... wow.

Obvious suicide just like the three year old. They would have jumped in front of a car or hung themselves if we didn’t have guns. So don’t blame the gunner who left the gun around, blame the suicidal kid.

Guns don’t kill kids, kids kill kids.

$common_useful_item resulted in a kid's death. I guess liberals think we should ban $common_useful_item now?
