110 Democrats and 110 Republicans could form a ruling coalition the way that parliamentary coalitions are formed, and it could even rotate the speaker from one group to the other. I'm not saying that this could happen, but it would make for some interesting theater. Now that Trump says he is pro-choice, it could calm things down a bit on that issue.

And no, I don't know whether this is sarcasm or not.

McCarthy will allow the shutdown that will ding the US credit rating and thus cost taxpayer additional interest, a tax the GQP will never acknowledge is on them.

So, do the right thing and risk - just risk a vote to vacate from the nutjobs (which he may well win); or throw the government into indefinite park, giving yet more power to the extremists, who have already shown this just emboldens them to ask for more damage to our system.

Now, the Senate is passing a bipartisan escape plan to avoid the shutdown that the tiny nutjob caucus is trying to single-handedly create (and that the GOP leadership seems completely impotent against).

In a lame effort at both-sides-ism, Kristen Welker asked last weekend why Biden isn’t negotiating with the nutjobs. It’s not the president’s job to try to get a GOP fringe faction to grow up. Put another way, you don’t negotiate with (economic) terrorists.
