Answering the question I've posed a couple of times now...

... namely, what happened to Joe that night?

Just published:

... sounds like it was truly exhaustion (and maybe overpreparation). If so, I think he should address it head on. (I can easily live with that, if that's really the explanation, and I suspect a lot of others could live with it as well...)

Maybe a televised FDR-style fireside chat is in order? An open address to the American people?

I think he needs to get in his Corvette and race around D.C. singing Texas Hold'em through a Mr. Microphone. That'll shut people up.

”…if that’s really the explanation…”

The credibility of Biden and his campaign coming into question while running against the Trump cult.

That rumbling you hear is the sound of irony collapsing in on itself like a supernova. eye twitch smiley

A priest, a rabbit and a minister walk into a bar.
The bartender asks the rabbit "what'll ya have?"
The rabbit says "I dunno. I'm only here because of Autocorrect.

National Suicide Prevention Lifeline
As of July 16, 2022, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is now available by simply dialing 988. The previous number, 1-800-273-8255, will remain active.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

I'd pay good money to see this. grinning smiley

But in all seriousness, I don't think it's a bad idea for him to use the power of his position to communicate the facts to the American public. It's not a question of shutting people up, it's a question of at least giving some explanation, so that there's not an information vacuum. Silence is never good, it invites rampant speculation and feeds the rumor mill.

He's the President, nothing is going to shut people up.

And yet...
When we had a now-convicted felon for President before, nothing was going to shut him up.
Nor will "the People" "Lock Him Up"...

Trump will back out of the September debate saying he has proved his case that he should be re-elected. The dotard over the dodderer.

With this demonstration of how easily and wildly perceptions and reactions can swing, what it’s going to look like two months from now strikes me as a completely black box.
