US Secession - Lakotas declare

I think we'll see more of this, but not just 'Indians'....

I think when I was in Hawaii there were some beach-camped natives that declared secession, too.

Not sure if this is one of the treaties, but it's an interesting read.
I'd like to find more of a point-by-point claim by the Lakotas on which items are not being honored. Probably 'all' of them. Would the SCOTUS ever rule in favor of them? If not them, who would possibly take this sort of thing? UN?

"Lakota country includes parts of the states of Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana and Wyoming."

'Looks like they should get a chunk of Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota, too.

well, does Lakota's secession mean the Nakota and Dakota declare, too? And, perhaps Lakota is a subset of the above? Just wondering.

It's an interesting question.

I suppose that it comes down to who makes the map. The Great Plains tribes all intermingled and weren't particularly well delineated until the Europeans came. If they wanted to make the argument, they might take a chunk of Canada, too.

Edit: And Kansas.

Maybe we could negotiate a new treaty... give them North and South Dakota and we all get a few grand each year in comps at their casinos.

No more federal aid at all. No mail. We rent the infrastructure to them. etc. That does not go with the secession package. They better have oil there to sell.

They do. The Williston Basin oil province occupies much of the northwestern part of the territory shown on MacMagus's post.

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

Seems bunch of it in Canada. Probably did not sign treaty. Just another of Canada's plentiful resources. [www.aapg.org]

You've probably posted 10,000 posts in the last year under Steve Jobs etc...

Instead of complaining you can't manage your life (which you did despite posting 50 times/ day), stop posting and get involved. We've (my wife and I) have spent a lot of time with Hecel Oyakapi trying to advance the Lakota. I'm not sure why you would bring them up without understanding the true abject poverty they live in. We've been fortunate enough to work with James Cromwell and help a little. It's so much nicer than the sedentary, fatass, computer posting arm chair idiot pontificating. Just saying @#$%& bag.
