It's not a vote, he's not my Gov. I get no vote on Larry Craig or the guy. Vittner, from Louisiana either. We ought to grow up and let politicians take their sex where they can find it.

I'd have more sympathy if his response, instead of "I've let myself down", was "we need to move forward and legalize prostitution so upstanding citizens will not be forced to resort to such financial practices".

I may be one of the few here that agree with Alan Dershowitch and James Carville....this whole "scandal" reeks of retribution, at worst, or Puritanism, at best.

Not defending the guy, never had any thoughts about him either way.

Did he use public money to hire hookers? No? He used his own money? Really? Did I miss something? Is this actually news? That public officials (or corporate officers) or working class Joes have private vices or sexual kinks? And like to hire party tail? Bad manners, maybe, but corrupt governance, that's questionable.

His mistake was being sloppy, being a high-value target, and getting caught. Other than undermining his credibility as a warrior for Justice, and making a joke out himself and his pathetic sex life, it's not clear that his crime was really so great, or so unique.

(the exception I'd consider is the possibility of blackmail that comes with guarding secret behaviors, and the fear of exposure, that does legitimately compromise the public trust)

It might be more fun to throw him to the wolves (his enemies on Wall Street, and in government) and let them feast on his carcass for the rest of his term.

At least his enemies on the Republican side could learn from his mistake, and benefit from his taste in women; Republicans are poor tippers (according to DC working girls) and have much cheaper and skankier taste, even going as far as using Airport Men's Rooms for extracurricular action. (excluding Clinton, of course, who's taste in women isn't so good) While most Democrats (also according to a poll of DC working girls) are too busy having affairs with each other to bother picking up the phone to order out! But when they do, they're less discreet, but tip better.

Let him serve out his term. New York deserves him, they earned it!

The problem I have with what he did is that he so zealously persecuted others for such and similar offenses. If he thinks that it is OK for him to do something like this, then why did he take such a hard line stance with others. It is the hypocrisy of the situation that makes it so objectionable, to me.

He has a chance now to maybe quietly disappear and be a bad memory. His pathetic hanging on to power makes me think he is really delusional about consequences. Needs a btchslap bad to bring him to reality. Wifey hopefully is providing lots of these. She has got to dump this bum for her self respect unlike someone we know from TV.
