FCC fines CBS record $3.6M.

Welcome to the nanny state.

Here is a link to a clip so you can judge for yourself whether it is 'indecent':

Basically, Brent Bozell and his goon squad -- none of whom probably actually watched the show when it aired -- flooded the FCC with complaints with an automated form letter.

I don't understand these people.
- They have the V-chip.
- The show is rated TV-PG, so IF parents are concerned about what their kids watch, then they shouldn't let them watch it.
- The power button on my TV works, why can't it work on theirs?

So what are they going to fine CBS for next?
The show with the 'suggestive' title 'The Unit'? Ooh, titillating.
I'm watching a game right now shot from "Cox Arena," should that engender FCC action?

Cool! A clip! Must save for later...um...

Seriously, I understand this is due to one organization that urges its members to write in and complain, whether or not they've seen in show, and regardless of the factors mentioned by Seacrest.

That's kind of frightening.

In light of this kind of stupidity, I will comment that lawmakers usually legislate against things they don't understand and/or like. Hence the Congress's law in about 1802 that declared that the mathematical element 'pi'would be equal to 3 . Because it was easier.

The other sad reality is that a good percentage of our impressionable youth has already participated in these "obscene " activities.

Maybe your daughters do this, Cbelt3, but mine do not, nor do they think this is reality. Having said that, I find the daytime soaps jumped this shark years ago. By the by,... I used to work in a national chain bookstore about 10 years ago. Many a woman would come in to look at the BIBLES and leave with about $70.00 worth of smut romances........and you shoulda seen their husbands! YUCK. I bet there's alot of ugly men and women offended by such crap on their TV'S, eh?

It is my opinion that repressed sexuality is the cause of many, if not most, of the world's ills.

imho, it ranks right up top with religion.

Aren't these the same wackos that went after Stern, but believe that Oprah's programming content is 'educational' ??

cult -noun-
a system of religious veneration and devotion directed toward a particular figure...
--a relatively small group of people having religious beliefs...

In other words, a religion with a smaller congregation eye popping smiley

I saw that episode. The sexual activities in it were way more than needed to be shown. It belonged on cinemax late at night, not CBS at 9:30 pm. Yes, the lesson was that just because your kids are at a friend's house, that doesn't mean they are not getting into trouble. (And that was trouble, regardless of what the Ruth Bader Ginsburg crowd will say when promoting the reduction of the sex age of consent being lowered to 12!)

I feel left out. None of that when I was in school.
