Halliburton overcharged for Iraq oil work

well, what a surprise......

[news.yahoo.com]

one amusing bit

"In one case, the agency said Halliburton "tried to inflate cost estimate by $26M." In another, it said Halliburton claimed costs for laying concrete pads and footings that the Iraqi Oil Ministry had already installed."

and the last paragraph...

"A top U.S. Army procurement officer, Bunny Greenhouse, last year described Halliburton's deals in Iraq as "contract abuse" and said auditors had flagged more than $1 billion in potential overcharges. "

Cheney's still on their payroll, so I'd say he's due for a bonus.

The story about them delivering polluted water to the troops ought to have people tried for treason, but Iraq has been such a boondoggle for corruption that if we were to do that we'd have to hang a lot of suits. There's $26 BILLION unaccountable for, ripped off by crooked contractors like Halliburton. You know those guys are Bush's contributors so nothing's going to come of it.

For now. I wouldn't want to be one of these guys when the Republicans are voted out of the White House in '08.

It is what it is.

After the next terror attack martial law will be declared and elections postponed for the duration of "the emergency." When or if elections are allowed again the Republican-owned electronic voting machines will allow a squeaker victory, despite exit polls massively in favor of the Dems.
