ILLEGAL immigration is a symptom and a problem. I agree with many of the things said above. Corporations are not taking responsibility for hiring these people. They don't treat taxpayers right. Look at the Chicken Processors, Building Contractors and Big Boxes like Walmart. They should be required to get these people legal if they hire them.
Immigration is the next big issue the Feds (with the help of most states) are going to use to snow the American Public. Kinda like weapons of mass destruction bull sheet. New legislature is being proposed and it will probably get pushed through before we know it. I think the public should have something to say - especially the middle class that pays all of the taxes in this country. It is just a timely topic. Once these laws get passed, it will be too late. What is the next thing we don't get to voice an opinion on? Everyone I know that is writing letters to Federal and State Officials is getting a canned form letters back. It is just like the War deal. Most of us were not for the war. Washington is out of control and they are just doing whatever they want. Bush is more than evil and he has republican and democratic buddies on the bandwagon. They are going to let all of these new voters in and raise our taxes to pay for it. It would take 30 plus years with the best efforts to get these folks on the books and paying taxes. I guess if you are wealthy, you may not care.
ILLEGAL immigration is a big problem for a lot of areas. I guess if it is not happening around you, you may not feel it is much of an issue. ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION is adding to already near exhausted programs and education system. We have no idea how many are here, but I can assure you they are playing it down. Hell, they just want the hispanic vote in the next election. Corporations are using these people, Politicans are using these people, and taxpayers get to take care of them for the time being. (and we have taken care of them in increasing numbers since the last laws were passed in the 80's.) All those laws did was encourage the next group to break the laws. Instead of a few thousand coming into the US, in is now a several milliona year. We know because of how many are in the school system. The corporations know how many are on their payrolls. The hospital workers can tell you what is going on. Some State Governors will tell you the truth. The people running prisons, and the police, can tell you about some of these problems.
The news media is not showing both sides of this issue fairly. There is major propaganda being pushed in every major newspaper and on television stations. The feds are trying to use the "they are just hardworking people, propaganda" . Many of those same People can't 100% support their life once they get to the US. Southern California is a disgrace - have you been there lately - trash everywhere. San Diego used to be the most beautiful city in America. Parts of Georgia look the same way. I hear Arizona, New Mexico and Nevada are having issues. Houston is a nightmare. South Texas towns have Mexicans crossing the border and dropping the kids off at American Public schools . These border towns don't have many jobs and additonal resources to raise the tax base. The feds are sure not cleaning up after these poor immigrants who have no resources for trash pickup. The feds are not enforcing housing codes that prevent a nice apartment complex from turning into a slum. The feds are not providing money for healthcare or a system to pay for it. You and I, will just have to bear the burden. Is that very humane? For illegals, or the Taxpayers that can't afford to move every five minutes?
Federal Laws are written using the terms "illegal alien". It is on the immigrants id's and on the law books. All of a sudden no one is using the terminology or enforcing any of the laws. They are turning this into a racial issue divide. If we do an amnesty, nothing will get these numbers documented and nothing will prevent droves of them from continuing to come illegally. The last amnesty did not get most of these people registered. The feds have so many broken programs, do you think they are going to make this one a priority? We need to know that immigrants are not criminals before we let them in. We need to have control over who gets into this country, at least to some degree. There are reasons other countries are more strict on Immigration Policy.
