Wow, that’s really weird. Did the package came in sealed? No sign of tampering? Anyway, regarding the new iPad, you should get a new one and return the faulty one, courtesy of Apple, In my experience they bend backwards to make this kind of trouble right. You go to Settings/Accessibility/Sound Recognition to turn on, and select the sounds you need. It’s a great feature. Oh, and there will be a new button @Control Center to quickly turn recog on or off.by rich in distress - Tips and Deals

So happy! I’ll have to see when will the update be worthy for me, but I’m glad I could replace if something happened to mine. This version is supposed to have sound recognition, which works wonderful on iPhones. Right now we leave an iPhone near our sleeping kid, and notifies on Apple Watch for yell, cry, sneeze or cough.by rich in distress - Tips and Deals
