I did that with my 85 Ranger in 1999. Drove it to my parents house, into the back yard and put a mattress in the back, then a tarp. Filled it up with water and hung out with my girl. Next day I dropped the tailgate and watered my dad's lawn. Truck was fine.

The fan is only important if you will be rendering for more than 30 minutes at a time. I'd go for the Air and get an external desk fan to blow across it if you need a cooling fan.
