I was driving through the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife area in SW Oklahoma several years ago now. We came around a corner and about a half a mile ahead a bison was ambling its way across the road. It was apparent from the size of it that it was taller at the withers than I (I’m 5’3”) and it stretched longer than the width of my lane. I stopped the car and let it amble. QuoteSpeedy Don’t be stopping where you did again!!! Better the bird dies than you. Just stopping in the left lane (or any lane) without due cause is asking to get hit. I hit the turn lane, made the u-turn on green and pulled the car well off the road. And I waited for traffic to clear before stepping foot on the roadway. Mom didn’t raise an idiot. Foot traffic in the area is not uncomby Diana - Tips and Deals
Politics was something that wasn't discussed around the kids. Not that it was a bad thing, just was something that never came up. Dad was born and raised in Kentucky; Mom in Oklahoma. Keep in mind they were born back in the 1930's. Dad's family was quite settled and had a farm. He was the youngest of six boys. Times were tough, and no jobs were available except factory work in Cincinnati, whicby Diana - 'Friendly' Political Ranting
I had to stay at work a bit late tonight, and on the way home I nearly hit a baby bird trying to make its way across the 3-lane road. I quickly turned the car around and tried to get to him before he was killed, but no luck. As I ran into the median to check on him, there was another little guy! Right there in the median, surrounded with a very busy roadway. With no mama swooping at me, no nestby Diana - Tips and Deals
Kitchen and bath caulk comes in colors now, not just white and clear. See if you can find one close enough to the color you want, and use that instead of grout.by Diana - Tips and Deals
QuoteLemon Drop Thank you Ted for bringing this up, it's important. Yes our already dismal maternal death rate will get worse. In addition, there will be more hesitancy to give care to fertile women until pregnancy status is confirmed. Guys probably don't know this, but if you are female and childbearing age, the first thing you get asked in any care situation, including the dentist, isby Diana - 'Friendly' Political Ranting
Something to consider when you trace the water leak is that water can travel some distance from the actual leak, and thus can appear places that you would think it couldn’t as it follows the path gravity dictates. They can be a pain to trace.by Diana - Tips and Deals
QuoteDeusxMac QuoteDiana … one nation, under God, indivisible… (from the Pledge of Allegiance) For the record... "The phrase "under God" was incorporated into the Pledge of Allegiance on June 14, 1954..." AFTER a number of forumites were born (or "preborn"). More to my point. This has been a long time coming. I feel for the man’s family. It sounds like he got overheated, found some shade and died there. Death Vally: It’s kinda on my “bucket list.” But .., My car gets 30-32 mpg, 13 gallon tank: about 300 miles (running out reportedly will damage the engine). An extra 10-15 gallons of fuel to make sure I don’t run out. No gas stations, no water (duh!!). Bring at least a gallon+ of eby Diana - Tips and Deals
I don’t personally have one. My sister and her husband have one, and I can ask her the next time I talk to her. My mom saw one that a friend has, and decided she wanted one. She chose one from the mattress place; waited several weeks (full size is sold, just not kept in stock in store) for it to be delivered; slept on it for about 10-14 days, and then found that the mattress wasn’t comforby Diana - Tips and Deals
I hate to hear this, but it was only a matter of time until this happened. And to all of us. I had hoped that this crap wouldn’t have become endemic, but wishful thinking I guess. Glad to hear it hasn’t been bad on him. All I can say to him is: Go Doc go! Edit (again): Speedy recovery. We needed him then, and we still need him now.by Diana - 'Friendly' Political Ranting

I have the GPS version (non-cell). I charge it in the morning while I’m eating breakfast and drinking coffee and put it back on after showering. It only goes below 50% when I forget to charge it; in that case it will last about two days. I also have a dark face on it (most times).by Diana - Tips and Deals

Closed primaries for the Repubs in Oklahoma. Semi-closed for the Dems here. That means Dems and Independents only. As I'm registered as Repub, I have a choice: either I vote for the less crazy, or the really nutcase crrraaaazzzzyyyy (of which there are more than you might think), hoping he wins and by extension, show just how nuts these folks are in the election AND lose because saner mindsby Diana - 'Friendly' Political Ranting

I don't have AFib, but I felt a "flutter" more than once. It became more concerning, so I checked it with the Watch. I showed it to my neurologist who had previously put me on Xarelto (for stroke), and he referred me to a cardiologist. He was surprised at the capabilities of the watch as well. The EKG and the monitor confirmed premature CVT, so now I'm on Bystolic as well. I like myby Diana - Tips and Deals
Quotegraylocks QuoteAcer If you had salmonella, you'd know it. trust me. of that i have no doubt but does the fact that I don't have it mean the jar i've been eating from is not contaminated? Not necessarily. Consider it this way: salmonella is bacterial so it takes time for it to multiply and be found throughout the sample. Quotefreeradical Quotezachdog From my understanding, placebos are not used in cancer trials. My mother-in-law participated in a cancer drug trial. She had labs two or three times a week, and they recorded an extraordinary amount of data. Either the drug works or it doesn't. In her case, it didn't, but she is glad she tried. My understanding is that placebos are never the sole treatment in anby Diana - Tips and Deals
Quotedatbeme Along those lines, as a fellow list view user, is it possible to add a new untitled folder inside one of the folders in the list view? I've never figured out how to do that—it always defaults the top level, and then I have to go look for it. I know control-command-N will create a new parent folder for the subfolder, but that's not something I have much use for. I haven’t foby Diana - Tips and Deals

Speedy, I have an HSA through work, and I’m not yet old enough for Medicare. When you say that when you have Medicare, do you mean when you get old enough (I’m 61 now) or when you apply for and get approved for Medicare? I’ve been actively trying to ignore the getting older part … I’ve been maximizing it every year, just because. Dianaby Diana - Tips and Deals
Ok. Rant on: This is a heavily red state; the color red as in crimson is celebrated here. Heavily traditional, heavily religious… making people THINK is damn near impossible. Vote as you believe, and since you never thought about anything but as you’ve been taught, it’s easy! Don’t make waves. I would guess Tux and Bo, but their names will become apparent as you get to know them. I like Acer's thought of "I Am Death Destroyer of Worlds Fear Me", that can be his nickname.
