In my son's case, one effect is that he's missing out on a lot of stuff. He's 12 and can't ride a bike. He has no interest in learning how, either. He rarely plays outside, even though we encourage him to. He's glued to his iPhone all the time. The pandemic has only made it worse.by rz - Tips and Deals

We have two safes. One is about 3' wide x 5' high by 30" deep. We had to take the framing off the closet door it's in for it to fit. Unless thieves had a pallet jack, they ain't stealing it. The other safe is even bigger. Took two guys from the local lock/safe company about a half hour to move it from our garage to my office, which is about 20 feet away. It's friggin' huge. It's a datby rz - Tips and Deals
QuoteRecipeForDisaster I don’t see myself swimming in the ocean off NH or ME even in a wetsuit at that time of year, but I’d bring it and hope! I don't have any first hand knowledge, but I would think that early-middle September might actually be the time when water temperature is the warmest in those locations. I, personally, probably wouldn't because I'm spoiled by living in FL, and uby rz - Tips and Deals
I have two almost identical Macbooks, vintage 2006, running Snow Leopard. One has an SSD, the other is a regular hard drive. The one with the SSD boots much faster than the other.by rz - Tips and Deals
QuotepRICE cUBE Dang! What Have you done for me lately? He led them to their first and only Super Bowl but I guess that only buys a few seasons. They've been to the Super Bowl three times, winning once.by rz - Tips and Deals

I haven't bought a new Mac in 15 years (2006 Macbook). I've bought 5 or 6 used ones since then though. But I will likely buy a new mini when the next iteration of the M chip comes out.by rz - Tips and Deals
That would have sucked for us a few years back when we had my wife's truck break down in the middle of nowhere in Virginia, in the snow, on a Sunday. We were able to get AAA to tow it about 70 miles to the town her sister lived in, to Sears of all places, that was open and able to fix it. My wife, my son and I were able to ride with the driver the whole way.by rz - Tips and Deals
If you're handy with a soldering iron, and can figure out (after taking the iMac apart) which parts to connect to in order to hook some sort of video cable to it, then it might work. That's my not-so-subtle way of saying it's a whole lot more effort than just buying a new display. And given that it's over 10 years old, I'm sure even a cheap 27" monitor will probably be a lot brighter thaby rz - Tips and Deals
I'm not much of a baseball fan, but the Dodgers were the team I rooted for. RIP Tommy.by rz - Tips and Deals
From what I understand, our local newspaper charges quite a bit for obituaries now (note: by "local", I mean it's the biggest newspaper in a fairly large city). Not sure if they were free or reasonably priced before, but if you want an actual obituary where it talks about your life and survivors, etc. it's going to cost a lot. They don't even publish a general list of people who haveby rz - Tips and Deals
QuoteThrift Store Scott Quoterz My son (12) is forced to listen to what I want to in the car, which is mostly 80s alternative, and 90s "grunge" and rock. QuoteYoyodyne ArtWorks Anything without Dennis DeYoung is a win in my book... Amen. He always came across to me as whiny. I know he started the band, but they wouldn't have been anywhere near as popular without Tommy Shaw. I think it's funny that he sued the rest of the band and lost.by rz - Tips and Deals
My kid watched it and liked it. But I used to point out to my wife when he did crap like the stuff mentioned above. A couple of years after he stopped watching it, we were going through our DVR and realized we had the Caillou Christmas special still on it. We asked our son if he wanted us to keep it, and he said he didn't even remember the show.by rz - Tips and Deals
I spent a week in NOLA about a year before Katrina. The food they're so popular for just isn't my style. I tried several local dishes and just didn't care for it.by rz - Tips and Deals
It was tough deciding on who to cheer for in the DAL/NYG game. Literally my two least favorite teams. But I actually hate the Cowboys more, so I was happy with the outcome.by rz - Tips and Deals

Quotejdc You could completely remove iTunes from the whole process by turning on iCloud backup, and paying 99¢/mo for the 50 GB plan. No more plugging into your mac, just let the phone and iCloud do its thing. Silly simple, its the first thing I do with all of our phones. I'm guessing it depends on "where" it's sitting in Customs. My wife ordered something from Australia, and it must have gotten all the way close to here because it was delivered last week the day after it cleared Customs.by rz - Tips and Deals
I'll tell my story. Sorry if it's long and graphic. Never had any kind of issue until 4.5 years ago. Had stomach pains for a couple of days before ending up in the ER. They finally diagnosed diverticulitis. Gave me IV antibiotics, and I spent 4 days in the hospital. They said it could flare up on occasion, and if it got really bad, they'd operate. I was home less than 12 hours when I haby rz - Tips and Deals

Quoteliya1201 I’ve set up a Snow Leopard virtual machine in VirtualBox 6.1 for one essential 32-bit app in 2017 MBP 13-inch with 8 GB Ram and 500 GB SSD. QuoteJoeH Parallels, VMware, and possibly other virtualization software keep 10.6 and earlier desktop versions of OS X from installing and running. This is probably an abundance of caution on their parts to avoid any potential legal issues with Apple for "enabling license violations". OS X 10.7 and later should just install without issue.
