Biden has done nothing to "fix" immigration, but I would also place blame on everyone in the US for being addicted to slave labor. Both the "pusher' and the addict deserve blame. And I guess some responsibility also lies with those who try to come here when they know it's against the law.by kj - 'Friendly' Political Ranting
Quotedavester Several US ICE muscle cars with less than powerful engines use external speakers to make them sound like throaty hi-po V8s. I suppose you could do the same for an EV. However, give me a quiet swoosh from an EV as I blow the doors off a Mustanmaro any day. A lot of cars have "piped in", or supplemental engine noise. The Ford Mustang has a "pipe" that allows soby kj - Tips and Deals
That could be interesting. I'm going to get one like that here soon and was thinking of using it for a time machine backup, but evidently you kind of want one several times bigger than your hard drive. Maybe a clone every couple weeks would do the job, idk. I don't want to pay for one that big, so I'll probably just put my docs, etc. on it.by kj - Tips and Deals
Yeah, I kind of think the nicest things about the sound of EVs is the relative quiet. Other than the safety issue, I'd rather them be silent.by kj - Tips and Deals
Maybe for dash cams, drones, etc. there's a market too. Especially dash cams since you only get so many writes, so the larger the better. You know, microSD is actually not that slow when you think that we used to use computers with SCSI I that did like 5mb/sec. Then of course the ATA, 33, 66, etc., so 100-150mb/sec. isn't really that bad for normal computing. I think you could record like 2by kj - Tips and Deals
Selling sounds like it sucks, but I've actually returned back to buying more stuff on Ebay. The search works better, the prices are better than some others. I've probably bought stuff I would otherwise have bought on Amazon.by kj - Tips and Deals
Quoteanonymouse1 Did parts of the video look like possible CGI to anyone else? Yeah, the head-on looked really weird. Sometimes footage looks like that in Redbull adventure videos etc. though, so idk. It looks like it would fit in a parking space.by kj - Tips and Deals
QuoteRAMd®d Mine will be. I will add the Visible $5 watch plan and try it out. I'd gladly pay att $5/mo for that service. But they want $15/mo plus the taxes, so it's probably closer to $20. 56 degrees is not frigid. not by about 20 degrees. Maybe not frigid, but spending a little time free diving in 50º water with no wet suit, I'll say it's cold enough to sap energy and defby kj - Tips and Deals
QuoteTiangou QuoteRacer X If they have strong reason to believe that real estate was purchased with drug money, for example, they will confiscate, and if proven, they will sell off the property. They don't need to prove anything. All they need to do is allege so much as any tangential relation to any potential crime and they can take any property they want and use it, sell it or send it to aby kj - 'Friendly' Political Ranting
Quotemacphanatic Unless it is completely autonomous, well over half the US population won't remotely be competent enough to fly one. Doesn't keep people from driving.by kj - Tips and Deals
QuoteTiangou $92K, max speed about 60mph and it can barely remain in the air for 20 minutes on a full charge under ideal conditions. It wouldn't get me to work. It would get me to work and back, maybe (20mi?). I bet it won't go 20mi at 60mph though. Probably wouldn't even save me any time, tbh. They say anyone can drive it with 15 min. training, so probably a lot of computer aid (like aby kj - Tips and Deals
>A cursory search of the daily calendar for most LA courts will list dozens of forfeiture >cases also known as police overtime pay funding. You can't know whether that's legit or not though. It could all be legit. But after reading a bit, it does sound like serious reform is needed. Maybe those who abuse it should have consequences (right). QuoteRacer X Quotekj My thought is that it's too expensive to have kids. I also think there is a move away from "family with children" being a valued lifestyle. My neighbors and their 12 kids are doing just fine thanks to near endless public assistance. though, to be fair, all the kids have the same 2 parents. I don't like that, but what is "just fine". I doubt it's tby kj - 'Friendly' Political Ranting
Quotepdq Quotekj Making a blanket policy of no pursuit… It’s not a blanket policy. Only for minor offenses. QuoteHow much damage do some of these people do after running? Plus, the lawsuits that will occur when people the police "should" have caught hurt people. Ask RacerX. He reminds us every time in his posts (in his sig), “police have no duty to respond.”. I thought usually it is done with guns, which makes it an awesome thing, right? It's just another thing that started for a good reason, but isn't always used as intended. It's use depends on the ethics of the user.by kj - 'Friendly' Political Ranting
On one hand, I wonder what that thing's eMPG is. Do we need to find ways to blow more energy? But then again, if we could eventually get rid of roads, etc. maybe it would be a good tradeoff. And maybe it will just be for rich folk to look down at the proles sitting in traffic. Pretty cool, but, "can you tow a horse trailer with it?"by kj - Tips and Deals
QuoteRacer X What is kind of odd, is that his CV doesn't mention him going to WSU in eastern Washington. He was always the butt of endless jokes by host John Keister on "Almost Live" here in Seattle. Kiester was from the UofW here in Seattle, and Nye was from Wazzu. UW Huskies vs Wazzu Cougars. Nye started to do his science education schtick on Almost Live, and it grew from there.by kj - Tips and Deals

Quotemrbigstuff Quotekj It would be interesting to have a list of the parts on that particular bike. For a while, makers really skimped on wheels because people looked at other parts more critically (shock, crank, etc.). Machine built wheels can take a while to get whipped into shape. Stress relief on the spokes, etc. Even really cheap stuff like shimano tourney can be serviceable, but I guesby kj - Tips and Deals
QuoteRacer X QuoteOmbligo Oil production isn't the bottleneck - oil refining is the bottleneck, and you can't build a new refinery overnight. Plus no one wants to build a new refinery that won't be needed in a few years as the need for fossil fuel diminishes. it will be decades before it wouldn't be needed. ships, trucks, trains, industrial boilers, the list goes on. >Whoever uses usb for audio is already outdated, but agree that they would still be usable. All this depends what you do. I would have to get something like the Presonus Quantum to get better latency than my RME, which is not even logical for me and my needs. My setup performs really well using soft instruments live (addictive drums, arturia V collection, etc.) Direct monitoring is greatby kj - Tips and Deals
I have a Rubbermaid one from Lowe's and I'm amazed how sturdy it's been. Still looks good after more than 5 yrs. both relentless summer sun and cold winters. The type you're looking at is obviously nicer, so I would think either would be great.by kj - Tips and Deals
Well frick, anything more than a Lada is an unnecessary gewgaw if you think about it. Every car you've ever posted on this forum is a large unnecessary gewgaw. edit: And expensive. And probably not that good at it's primary function.by kj - Tips and Deals

"No one said police can’t apprehend a shoplifter - but if, when approached, a shoplifter dropped the goods and ran, for instance, it might not be worth it to run him/her down and get into a wrestling match when at least one person has a gun, especially if you may already have got them on camera." Cops make these kinds of decisions every day. Making a blanket policy of no pursuit oby kj - 'Friendly' Political Ranting
I'm not saying it's Bidens fault, but showing that inflation is happening for different reasons elsewhere has nothing to do with whether it's his fault here. Might make good material for Colbert, but I would rather have info that shows what's causing inflation here.by kj - 'Friendly' Political Ranting
I don't know, I've had to replace lots of old-style door handles. It's a really high use/abuse part of a vehicle. I'm sure most of those style door handles belong to Teslas, but there are others that have them (e.g. Kia EV6). I feel like I would have to live with one for awhile to see if they function nicely. Some things are initially annoying but become more efficient when you get accustomedby kj - Tips and Deals
I'm ordering less on Amazon than I used to because the prices aren't necessarily that good, searching is the pits. I search and search, then after I buy something a million suggestions for stuff that didn't come up when I searched pop up. I just received something that was "fulfilled by amazon", that actually came from Ireland. It's become harder to tell where things are coming from,by kj - Tips and Deals

My thought is that it's too expensive to have kids. I also think there is a move away from "family with children" being a valued lifestyle. I would also like to see the the southern border opened because they tend to end up conservatives.
