True, there can be savings. I wasn't bashing the refurbs. It's a great way to save money most of the time. You just have to look around first to make sure that the savings are real. I'm thinking of upgrading from a 1ghz Ti powerbook so I've been looking around and knew of the Amazon rebate versus taxes at Apple situation.by Pam - Tips and Deals

The 15" 1.67ghz powerbook with superdrive is $1599. But add taxes and it's not much of a savings over Amazon's $1800 after rebate price for new. Maybe a $90 savings over new. Darn taxes.by Pam - Tips and Deals

My great-grandfather made many pieces out of Phillipine mahogany. I have several. They are very nice pieces of furniture, have held up very well, and are exceptionally easy to refinish as the wood is soft. Glad to see someone else is appreciating the wood.by Pam - Tips and Deals

Everyone should have this stuff in their medicine cabinet . It is great for stopping the nausea that results in vomiting. A doc told my parents about it when I was a kid and since then, we always have some around. It's not hard to find in the pharmacy section. Usually it only takes 1-3 doses to work. I feel for you Pat. Gutenberg, you roast the coffee days before grinding and using it. The beans usually need about 3 days to degass after roasting. Phy is right, it is the best tasting coffee ever.by Pam - Tips and Deals

I used to do a lot of computational work and I remember when being able to use the Cray meant a huge deal to us. Dumb terminals connected to what we had on site for coding, then submitting the job to the cray across the country for execution. Semi formal used to mean a dressy dress that was above the ankle. Temperature doesn't matter when dressing for formal/semi-formal. She just wears a coat or sweater until she gets inside. The problem with diets is what do you do when you have lost the weight? Keep eating the diet or risk weight gain? They can be good as a jumpstart to better eating, but if that change doesn't occur, you just gain the weight back again. Or stay on the diet forever.by Pam - Tips and Deals
