My state goes by two fifteen minute breaks plus lunch. Back when I managed that's all you officially got, but as long as you didn't abuse it and your work got done, ducking out for a smoke/making a quick personal call/grabbing a soda downstairs was fair game. Virtually no one is in worker bee mode every minute of every day. You want to go outside and rot your lungs instead of reading the sports p

Cats got bad PR.
I've known seven different cats and every last one of them did just as big a happy dance at feeding time as any dog. Cats love to play (get one all jacked up on catnip if you ever need to laugh your a** off). I get greeted at the door. I get a purr and nuzzle if I'm sitting around moping over something.
Cats aren't quite as goofily exuberant as dogs, but then when's the las

It sounds a little like a gray area to me.
If the meeting ended with something along the lines of 'Thank you for coming today...' and ""partners (will) be identified the week of 1/19" and from there future work and projects would be determined."
I would take that as an end to the matter if I didn't hear anything by the 19th. They've thanked me for presenting during the m

Make the leap. InDesign had one of the roughest starts for an app I've ever seen, but that's ancient history. It's been a stellar application for a long time now. You won't regret coming into the 21st century.

The piercing is stupid, and if painful (which I suspect it is), is cruel.
But the bigger problem to me is it sounds like she's not a professional tattoo/piercing technician (You have to be licensed for that, don't you?). She's a pet groomer, not a vet or something similar.
I'd say it's a really bad idea for uncertified dorks to go around doing stuff like this on animals (or people). That ki

Great show last night. Lots of nice little surprises and it moved along at a very nice clip.
This really feels like a sweet spot for TV viewing right now. 24 back, Lost back, Burn Notice back, House back, interesting new shows like Lie to Me, The Beast, Fringe (not to my liking, but it has a fair number of fans), and The Mentalist; and it won't be long before Heroes is back too.
And the bea

I took the hat to be inline with the tradition of many black women and the Sunday church hat.
Since her background is that of the church (her daddy was a preacher) I think that this was
an occasion that called for a big statement. I liked it.
Yeah, that was a perfectly fine go to meetin' chapeau. And just like so many of us, she's not eighteen anymore, but she can still lay dow

Thanks for the info, just check Directv to do list and it is scheduled to record. 7:00pm on the WestCoast.
And yes, I do follow it.

Oh. Damn. That's what happened. My cable schedule had it listed as coming on at 9:00 p.m.. When I tuned in they were showing a recap of CES (with the description in the schedule still showing The Mentalist).

New episodes of "House" start today, Monday, followed by more new "24". Tuesday is the inauguration. Wednesday is a complete couch potato explosion with a double shot of Lost, including the premiere, Lie to Me and Top Chef. Thursday is the return of Burn Notice.
That's one sweet week.

Is the question really 'can you program?' Lots of people can type, but not many of them are going to sit down and knock out a "The Great Gatsby" or "Streetcar Named Desire".

The best ting about that video? You just know that guy would have laughed if one of the kids had asked for a high five.
If you're going to be "traumatized" by a hug after seeing the strength, clear vision and courage that guy shows your problems didn't start with him.

The pilot? Clearly a hero.
But MAN was the Today Show going bugfugging crazy this morning. "Miracle on the Hudson" every other sentence. Let's talk to one of the "incredible surviviors". WTF? An "incredible survivor"? Any passenger who didn't trample somebody to death on the way out or use a small child as a flotation device was a "hero". The barge and f

The hoary giants of old keep getting swallowed up by the mists. Good Guys. CompUSA. Circuit City.
They weren't even close to being the brightest stars in the sky, but it does tug at my ticker just a little remembering the pre-internet days when places like those were the well into which I cast the disposable income of my youth.

Oh my aching nuts. I feel like Phil Schiller.
Well, best wishes to Jobs and his loved ones. When it all comes out in the wash, the unfortunate turn in the health of the man is much more the bad news than anything that may or may not happen to the corporate entity at one point or another.
That said, I do fear for the future direction of the Mac and of the company. Jobs, while scarcely perfe

Business is that slow. The McDonalds near work has started offering free samples every Friday. Apparently with the blessings of corporate since they've got four color signage fully compliant with the other ads and posters.
And it's not to flog some new product being test marketed either. This is the everyday fare; nuggets, burgers, salads, their cold coffee drinks.

RIP. Eighty's not a bad run. He did some good work. The Prisoner's a great show. I taped the whole thing off air to VHS for a friend years ago (Bless the glory days of PBS when it was a gold mine of science fiction and speculative fiction and a lot less a revolving door of self-help hucksters and pop classical music events).

Here's my own personal MW post-mortem.
I went to the expo this year, I think it was my twentieth straight, and maybe because of the uncertainty about its fate, I took a little harder look at it than I usually do. I walked the entirety of both north and south halls, sat through some demos, talked to vendors, looked for some deals and swag.
It felt like I had just browsed the internet on foot

. . .the McDouble (like the double cheeseburger but with only 1 slice of cheese) joins the $1 menu. . .
. . .but only for 10 days...until January 18. . .
Must be a regional thing. The McDouble has always be a dollar menu item around here. But just about all of the chains here have a dollar menu of some sort so it's probably a matter of competitive survival.

It is typeface not font.
#A: Didn't say Helvetica was a "font"; I made a call to Font Freaks. Besides, this one is neither. It's a movie. pppbbbttt... (Also, "It's not a TUMAHH!" )
#B: Alliteration trumps exactitude anyway. Feter Fiper ficked a feck of fickled font freaks.

That place already would be shut down "for peoples own good" in New York City (I believe...). Too high in fat.
Similar measures being considered in parts of California too.
Has any restaurant ever actually been forcibly shut down over stuff like this?
