Several years ago we went looking for an air purifier during hay fever season. Consumer Reports had as their highest rated large room air purifier the Blueair Blue 211. I just looked and in the Jan issue they recommend the next iteration of it, the Blueair Blue 211+. We own 2 of the Blueair 211's and they're fine. I buy aftermarket filters that are way cheaper than OEM. But Consumer Reby Michael - Tips and Deals
Nobody on our hill drove out until the guy next door (and his 2 kids and wife!) got into what must be a 4-wheel drive truck and around the corner and down the hill. My wife and I walked to the top of the hill and looked down and there were 2 vehicles in the ditch to the side; both came out of driveways half way down the hill. But, my neighbor's truck tracks went all the way down and around the cby Michael - Tips and Deals

Farther north than rgG, we have about 2" but it's suddenly gotten bigger flakes. We're forecast for 3-6 inches. That looks likely--we'll be on top of the hill until Monday, I assume.by Michael - Tips and Deals
At 0:36 in the video I believe somebody told the commentator that Obama and Trump had shaken hands; the commentator said he couldn't see it from his angle. Other reports said that neither Clinton nor Bush shook hands with Trump. He shook with Pence but Pence's wife declined. And, apparently the Clinton's ignored them all!by Michael - 'Friendly' Political Ranting

I see the 25% off (up to $15) on my Chase Amazon, Chase Freedom Flex and Chase Sapphire Preferred cards. It doesn't show up on my Chase Freedom Unlimited. Thanks, Newt! QuoteS. Pupp The roads are not designed for it, and the county's single snow plow is just not enough for a county of 500,000 people. We moved to NW GA 40 years ago and any time there was snow threatened the place shut down. We live on a hill with a north-facing road so 2" of snow could keep us in the house for several days. But a few years ago the county bought some snow blades that hookby Michael - Tips and Deals

Our primary fitness is walking the golf course. We played 18 holes 229 times last year. This year, we spent the first week in B'ham so we didn't play. Then our local course announced they were covering the greens last Sun through when it gets above 25 degrees. So we haven't been able to play and won't until the middle of next week. We've been going to Planet Fitness each day. Not nearly as fun.by Michael - Tips and Deals
QuoteBlack Quotemattkime QuoteBlackI have some accounts with Fidelity but I feel like putting all my eggs in one basket might be bad. Why do I want to roll these accounts over into a traditional IRA? Sure, you could go with Vanguard. I'm sure there are others but those are two reasonably good ones. 403b's (and 401k's) are run by employers. You have more control when "roll over" thby Michael - Tips and Deals

All I ever care about is whether I'll be able to renew the Hulu and Disney deal near Black Friday. I think this year it was $5 for the pair with ads.by Michael - Tips and Deals
The deal I made with my wife decades ago when I first wanted to do a I'm-not-qualified-to-do-it task was that if she wasn't happy with the outcome, I'd hire a pro. That one (and others since) turned out fine. In this case, I'd first seriously consider just building the wall behind the toilet out by several inches, finishing it and then putting the 12" toilet back in place, 1" from thby Michael - Tips and Deals
Quotewurm But I also would not want an Amex, Visa, or Mastercard gift card...which are indeed a pita to use. When we get one of these cards, I enter it as a payment on Amazon and then buy an Amazon e-gift card for the total amount and send it to myself. The last time I did this for a class action settlement Mastercard, Amazon asked if I just wanted to add it to my gift card balance when I enteby Michael - Tips and Deals

I went to our ophthalmologist in Oct to get evaluated for blepharoplasty to take out extra skin in my upper eyelids and came out with a suggestion that he do that as well as a browplasty on both eyes. I'm assuming that's what you're talking about, as well. The doc said that doing both would provide a substantial benefit to my vision by increasing the light coming in. He said that he would leave aby Michael - Tips and Deals
We regularly get ads for things we've talked about. But, is it Siri, Alexa or Google that's listening--or all three? I'll sign up for Apple's settlement. Since it starts in Sept. 2014, I figure that between us we've had 8 watches, 8 iPhones and 4 laptops.by Michael - Tips and Deals
I had aquablation of my prostate. After years of the increasing urgency and decreasing flow, all of that is gone. I had a friend tell me it was like being 18 again and (after a couple of months post-surgery) it is. But, as pleasant as this is, it's nothing compared to those who's loved ones are beating cancer!!!by Michael - Tips and Deals
We bought a battery Ring 15 months ago for a location that has hard wires from a transformer. I hooked them up and it trickle charges the battery in the Ring doorbell. I just looked at the battery and it is at 100%. It was on sale for $70 when we got it. It does ring the regular house bell and we get the package notification thing. Great outcome! My wife could have gone for weeks without finding it. She rarely carries a purse and so if a phone had somehow ended up in her purse on a day she was carrying it she could easily have come into the living room 2 weeks later with the phone in her hand wondering who's it was and why it was there. Many years ago I found a wallet in men's room at a small ski hill in the evening.by Michael - Tips and Deals
QuoteBuzz What I've learned, is that depending on the venue, people can get incredibly territorial about their highways. Refer to one incorrectly for the location you're speaking in, and you can really get the listener's dander in a twist. Thank goodness Harry's Hof Brau is off the 101.... That's the US-101, BTW, thankfully no "I" to deal with. == I grew up eating at Harry'sby Michael - Tips and Deals

Note that he did that in 2013/14 and it looks like it went to court 10 years later. The credit card companies have learned and adjusted. Right now the AMEX Blue Cash Preferred card pays 6% at supermarkets. But, it's limited to $6k spend per year and then it becomes 1% reward. So, it somebody successfully spent the $6k on gift cards before the reward went to 1%, they'd make $360 for the year foby Michael - Tips and Deals
Mine, from childhood, is sitting behind the bedroom door. I got in big trouble shortly after getting it at maybe 8 years of age when I shot out a number of 8" windows in our tool shed. I learned to cut and install glass shortly after that. I got pretty good at it by the time I repaired a dozen of them. And I never shot at a window again.by Michael - Tips and Deals
Apple says it's worth "up to" $220. I'd take that in a minute vs. selling on Swappa where the lowest price for an unlocked 12Pro in fair condition is $266; $299 for good. I have bought and sold on Swappa; when I sell I've understated the condition (e.g. I think it's really "mint" but I call it "good") simply because I don't want to worry about an unhappy buyer returnby Michael - Tips and Deals
