In New Jersey, the first suggested method is to wrap them up and stick them in the trash (in "non-descript packaging to...avoid trash harvesting"). Going back to the old days...by Michael - Tips and Deals

If you live in the right part of the country, you might want to check these guys . They sell a couple of different lines, distinguished by the internal springs, etc. Within the lines, they have specific models distinguished by the amount of padding; more padding costs more. They have a "comfort policy" that allows you to bring a mattress back for up to a year if you don't likeby Michael - Tips and Deals
I have a Canon S2IS that can focus to the end at the end of the lense. I've been told that it will copy slides into digital format with as good a quality as a high-end scanner. Anybody tried that?by Michael - Tips and Deals
I've noticed that the salads in a bag are lasting much longer than a year or so ago. I'm afraid to ask what they've done to make that occur, but it's nice that it doesn't go bad so fast.by Michael - Tips and Deals

Is there a low balance fee of some sort? If so, taking it all out can give you a negative balance if they assign the fee between your check cashing and their officially closing it. You might then get one of those relatively big charges for going negative. I'd write a check for everything except what the low balance fee would be and then ask them to close it and send the rest.by Michael - Tips and Deals
I'm one of those who thinks a seller should leave feedback first. However, I certainly recognize the validity of a seller protecting himself. I think you are wise to make an active decision as to whether you want to deal with someone. If a seller has a buyer who has left negatives that seemed at all unreasonable, I wouldn't expect the seller to leave feedback first. But, with my 100+ positiveby Michael - Tips and Deals

I'd do it from someone who doesn't have salespeople to support, tv and print ads to pay for, and a showroom to support. You're paying for all that. I agree with Fritz. Also, getting recomendations on remodelers from friends/relatives makes sense. Look at their work before you hire them.by Michael - Tips and Deals

Last year I had a problem and couldn't find a phone number. I called Apple directly and was told it was only reachable by the email (apple->support->ipohoto->customer service->ordering prints, bottom of page). This is slightly off topic to the thread, but please be aware that there are reports of counterfeit USPS Money Orders in circulation. Apparently USPS counterpeople are trained to tell. I'd only cash one there, not at a bank.by Michael - Tips and Deals
Thanks for the link. I feel even better now... I don't suppose there is any sort of foolproof authentication process; the E-Trade site says you can logon on a 1 time basis without the code generator if you call and are authenticated. Doesn't sound all that different from Fidelity. The gold/attic model is looking better!by Michael - Tips and Deals

I've started getting nervous about online financial interactions. The little accounts don't bother me, but our core investments at Fidelity are substantial. I know that E-Trade is using a customer-carried code generator as a second level authentification scheme. I don't see anything like that or a USB hardware token at Fidelity. I once won a iBook auction. Following that the communication with the seller got really wierd and I got hinky. I offered to pay listing fees + $20 to be done with it. He accepted and I paid him and left happy. Ask her for listing plus something for your time and lost value of the money now vs. after another auction. Choose a number.by Michael - Tips and Deals
