Wow. A poorly controlled study finds a correlation and pretends causation. August, you are correct. I see correlation, but I don't see the causative factors they claim either. And yes, I downloaded it and I read it.
OK. I'm on my soapbox now.
There is no mention of determining how many individuals actually listened to country music, but only the proportion of radio airtime it received. Nor

Yep. Another one, a 4.7 to match the one we had 3 days ago! I know, for you out in California, this is nothing to write home about; but we seem to be having a small swarm and it is quite unusual for us! 29 or so in the last three days.

It hit one county up and over from us. It shook the house side-to-side, not rolling up and down so much, with an odd roaring noise. Sounded like a very strong wind, almost like it was going to take the roof off. I won't know for sure until tomorrow when I can get a look at everything in the daylight, but it appears that no significant damage was done.
By the way, at 5.6, it is the strongest qu

My guess is that the staff looked at your cat's vaccination records and saw he was due for his rabies shot. Since he was going to have his teeth cleaned, they probably require that he be up to date on his shots. This is probably the case for any procedure. That is why I suspect that they did it. Now, where they made the mistake was in not telling you this first and asking if you wanted t

The series rented the track from SMI and was promoting this race itself, an experiment to explore the possibility of similar arrangements in the future in light of the poor business climate for oval open wheel races.
The announcement of the 2012 schedule has been expected this weekend, but was postponed to see if they could work out some deals to increase the number of oval races

A fantastic driver who died way too young. He didn't have a full-time ride this year, but won the Indianapolis 500 anyway. He had just signed for a full-time ride next year, so his future was looking brighter. A new car is coming out next year, one that is safer and (supposedly) a bit slower, but until they do something about the "open" design where the wheels are as exposed as they are

Regular dishwasher detergent (the stuff that goes in the dishwasher). I know, you are thinking, "You're nuts! Why add more soap?" The dishwasher stuff has surfactants and anti-sudsing agents in it and so will kill the bubbles. If you don't believe me, make up a sink of regular dish soap with lots of bubbles, add some dishwasher detergent, and have at it. The bubbles will be greatly dimi

My employer did the same when I had surgery. It is more of a CYA for them than it is for you to take advantage of it. The paperwork was in place even though I had plenty of leave available for my recovery, so if something happened and I couldn't be back to work as soon as I thought I could, everything was already taken care of. I used my leave and never had to use FMLA time.

One of the most commonly used compound for mold eradication for home use is household bleach. I don't remember if it is used full strength or not; spray on areas where mold is growing, and well saturate the area. If it is in sheet rock, take the sheet rock down and replace with new as you'll never be able to eradicate the mold from it. Make sure you spray the studs behind the sheet rock as it can

Sorry. Misunderstaning sucks. Anyways...
No I haven't tried memtest. In addition to my normal supposedly 8:30-5:00 job, I teach two nights a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays). Tonight I should have some time to check out all the stuff I need

QuoteDianaBoth 4GB ram sticks came from OWC, so it is possible (but not likely) that there is an issue with them. However, since the crashing issues are restricted to only two programs, it is more likely that the issue is/was with the applications themselves and not ram.
No, not necessarily. More than once I have seen RAM issues that affected a single application only.

Thanks for the useful information.
The two applications in question are LibreOffice and Sente. LibreOffice is much more stable since I killed a plug-in for it, and in fact has not crashed since the plug-in died. No plug-ins were applied to Sente. I will be taking the issue up with the appropriate individuals as that is the best avenue to go.

Quick question or two (like that's really gonna happen!):
On my 2011 i7 MBP, it sometimes gives me some "issues" such as applications crashing; I see (just for a second or less) something that should have already cleared, or the screen just "pixelates" and then fixes itself. Just tonight, I woke it up from last night, and I see for a second the background I saw when I boote

I am home now, and I've told the news to the "spousal unit." He says, fix it! Apparently he has been doing all of the on-line financial stuff wirelessly through the MacBook since he finally retired the old eMac.
The problem was not just MAC address filtering, but rather a router running such old firmware that it could not recognize any MAC address that didn't start with 00: blah blah

Rotator cuff injury usually causes pain, but not always.
I tore mine when I slipped and fell into the trunk of my car (long story; and no, alcohol wasn't involved). It burned at the time, but it stopped after a day or so. I had weakness in the shoulder thereafter, as in I could bring my arm up to a certain level above my head and then not be able to hold it there. It didn't improve with time,

Here's someone who claims upgrading firmware to v 5.x fixed the illegal MAC address problem:
Yes, I saw them. Also, the v 5.x fix mentions that it has problems with "heavy usage" whatever that amounts to, and suggests going back to the previous version to see if it fixes the issue.
The latest version is 6.1.4. I'll try it when I get home f

The router is old enough to have been discontinued by Motorola! Imagine that.
Flashing to either the latest firmware version requires either a Windows machine (ugh!) as the files from Motorola are a .exe, or a linux box (they also gave the files as .tar balls). It is now past midnight and I've got to go to work in the morning.
If I get started with this now, it will probably take several ho

Resetting to factory settings does not fix the problem.
You didn't go into much detail about how and where you are getting this message. If this is in some of the browsers web interface configuration pages, it may be more of a compatibility issue with the web browser you are using rather than a hardware failure in the router. And trying a different browser or upgrading to

By "flash" I mean:
a. Upgrading to the "newest" firmware version, or
b. DD-WRT.
And yes, I was aware the router would take DD-WRT. The newest firmware version shouldn't be a problem, but I've never done anything like it before. DD-WRT would be akin to it, but do I really need to go that far?
And yes, I'm aware of the "place the head in the sand" approach to
