I brought back some fresh habanero peps from Fla. Nice bright orange. I'm gonna make a batch of my intergalactically well known turkey chili. Usually, I put a couple of tiny Thai hots and a jalapeno or 2 in. It turns out mild to me and I'll usually spark it for myself and let others have their way with it. If I put one whole hab in, sans seeds, am I looking for trouble? Now I ain't worrie

that there ain no free beer coming to me coz I bought Apple stuff in the last year. I wish the Air was teeny tinier, but I guess that's an iPhone. that there is apparently no plan to support OS6 on my MacPro. poot!! oh yeah. and that Scarlett Johansson still hasn't called me.

yes it was drum storage. does "Fastran" ring a bell to anyone? The county data center that I worked in summers had a couple of these beasts. But none of these was it. The surface of the drum was visible thru a window. man, why am I wasting my time with this? Today was a 14 hour day. ah well.

I was having a conversation about the days before the iPhone with a friend today. What was the "hard drive" called that was a huge cylinder from back ni the 60's and 70's? It was like 2' long and a foot in diameter.

I think one would be lucky these days, for any of the rather cheaply made Chinese consumer rvcrs to last that long. Yea, 25 years ago. My old HK505 is still running over 25 years later. Not that I'm advocating spending big $ for home fi. But, at say $600 for a "better" consumer surround rcvr, I'd be happy at 6 years, $100/year. Sad but true. YMMD, but I wouldn't expect $3000 r

we ended up with the UM150, aka Pantech. it does 300-700k/80-100k from home with lousy bars. My wife is happy with it though I'm not a fan of something sticking out the side of the USB port. It does come with a USB extenesion that might make it less likely to be carelessly nuked. Free after rebate.

since I haven't looked at Panther in a while...... I've updated my brothers iMac G3 to Panther and all is well. But I find that after each reboot or shutdown/boot, when I repair perms, there are always some to be done. Was this a "problem" in 10.3.9? Or do I need to look further?

In addition I found this: operation a success. Used WD120G/7200 rpm and 1G ram installed with Panther.3.9. Wish I could find a version of Skype that would boot for him. Ah well. Surgery took about an hour total. Being extra careful with screws, screens, snaps and other bits of disassemble process. More parts for LEM.

VZW broadband cards - 15 years ago

any of you have experience with the various VZW USB and/or PCMCIA and/or e34 broadband cards? My wife needs one for her older Gateway, which is PCMCIA. I'm thinking if the USB does the job, then she can transport that to a new computer when this one is done. Alternatively, by the cheap PCMCIA and cross the new computer bridge when she gets there. X.3.9 is up and running off ext FW. I'm just about to upgrade ram and want to swap out the HD for a 7200rpm/120G. I've previously seen a QT or flash movie to follow but can't find it. Anyone have a pointer?
