on the Mac side, I have a tendancy to save final documents as pdf's and when printing from acrobat, all those features/options are there. not sure about various flavors of word, though primarily use word X for document creation and proofing, and pdf for archiving, transfering, and final printing.

tell her to bring back a few bars of real Italian chocolate; then you can stop worrying about her travels, and worry about what brands and varieties of chocolate await you upon her return. chocolate. yummm.

I get upgrades the old fashioned way; I married a flight attendant... her t-shirt read "MARRY ME - FLY FREE", and I fell for it. Airline ID works for picking up rels. TSA is a symptom and a deterrent, not a solution.

Time to stock up, Baby Buzz loves 'em and his 9-1/2's are showing some wear... Last time we got some for him they were 2 pair for $89, but the kid had a $15 or $20 spiff card to help out. Good find Newt, will take item # w/ us later, if local store not in stock, but will call first in any case.

Mrs. Buzz just got back last night from Italy; said Italian TSA equivalent was more of a PITA than here in the good ole USA where she has been a flight attendant for a major airline for nearly 30 years. That said, my father died in a plane crash, but Baby Buzz, the Mrs., and I all fly regularly w/o much worry, only the inconvenience resulting from other events that impacts flying for everyone. Th

same as others; a consistent march toward mediocrity, or worse, over the last few years. kinko's used to represent a solution, but the last two or three years, they have caused more problems than they have solved. I still give them an occasional shot, but if I don't get the desired response initially, it's off to a local mom & pop.

another vote for FileMaker, though in FM 8.5 it's now called "Advanced" instead of "Developer" but same basic parameters apply. for what you're describing, you probably could get by w/ FM 6 Developer, though I don't pay attention to the resale market to give a realistic quote on what FM 6 Dev fetches these days.

can you blacklist MAC addresses? try it, and see how quickly, or if, it is replaced w/ another. after three or four replacement MAC addresses, you'll know it's a bandwidth thief. one or two may be accidental. I'm sure there are people that have taken their laptops elsewhere, and set them to grab signal where they're at, and have returned home and forgot to set them back to their home network and

OK, a bit of an overstatement, but Baby Buzz's instructional fall ball little league team absolutely got their butts kicked in the opening game of the season several weeks ago, by a team with a rookie coach that seemed to have forgotten (or never understood) the "instructional" aspect fall ball. The guy pitched only his best pitchers, and played totally balls out to win. Laid a major wh

Baby Buzz used one for a few years, and grew to depend on it, and found it very soothing. It's still in his room, and he uses it occasionally when the mood strikes, or the events of the day point him towards it. Go for it; if it doesn't pan out, there'll surely be another friend or relative that will like it.

we clean the dust bunnies out of our computers, so why not clean 'em out of the routers, too? seemed logical at the time, and it worked, ymmv.

Quoteelmo3QuoteBuzziPhoto on other machines gets only the good photos that are pre-organized elsewhere.
How is that different from photos that are simply organized elsewhere?
Quantity, editing, type of usage and perception. The iPhoto machines have (for the most part) just a subset of photos taken (and organized elsewhere) residing in their iPhoto Libraries. For example, from roughly a set of

Thanks again to all who helped in my previous thread regarding photo renaming;
After getting the basic renaming under control, I use a quick & dirty FileMaker database to print lists to use for sorting by subject (usually Baby Buzz or his teammates), but now I realize I can use FileMaker to generate a subject centric new name to aid in sorting. Given this, is there some other utility t

how'd you get CD's? we bought a bunch of CD-ROM only eMacs awhile back that came with Panther installed, and Tiger on DVD only, for machines that cannot read DVD's as equipped. Apple wanted $$ to exchange DVD's for CD's... was wondering if they came w/ your batch of eMacs? and were yours CD only, too?

But DO consider a GPU upgrade to get the most out of CoreImage/CoreVideo. OWC had some Radeon 9600 Pros for under $100. There may be MUCH better GPUs if you are willing to spend a little more dough. Might be something from nVidia that would be equally good... haven't looked lately.
exactly. snagged an OWC 9600 for the MDD and moved the 9000 to the QS, freeing it from the nVidia Twinv

Mrs. Buzz is flight attendant for a major airline and likes to work the cruisers' shuttle to Alaska a few times during the late summer each year. She always has more than a few comments on the disparity of what people paid to fly to get to their cruises, apparently it's a bigger topic of conversation going there, than to most other places she flies. I don't know squat about hands on retail bookin
