You did not give me my option - I did not go to safari 4.
I have safari 4 on test machines, my productivity laptop is still 3.2.1.

depends on what you need from the windows emulator.
I only need it for very specific purposes - and keep the key files on my mac side.
So I don't bother with the windows updates, figuring if it's a problem, I'll just wipe and reinstall (does not take that much time, actually).

I have an original 8GB iPhone, and I could have lived with a 4GB model.
Even though my itunes library is full of hundreds of my personal CDs in MP3 format, 1 GB is more than enough room for a lot of music. Just be willing to sync and change playlists regularly.
The only area where 8GB might be limiting is the number of videos you will be able to carry with you at the same time. And, again,

So they try to tell us we don't need such hardware
Too bad, really. My IIci was a great machine for a long time

I personally do not use a case for mine. I did put on a screen protector.
The only scratch is when I loaned it to a friend to make a call, where upon he promptly dropped it on concrete!

If you need a laptop, that's a decent deal.
For almost all applications, that model is almost as fast as the unibody models except for funky graphics-intensive games.
I have MBP models that are both earlier and later than the one you list, and there is not a big speed difference except for the 2GB vs 4GB RAM limits. Your 3+GB will still be quick.
I'd be sure to check out the screen, keyb

when we purchased our first home 10 years ago, we looked at over 100 houses in person with our agent
She earned her (modest by current standards) commission that she had to split with the seller's agent
When we moved, she helped us sell our house in 21 days in this tight market by helping us get our house ready and stage it for selling.
When we moved, our current agent knew the house we

I have a great Panasonic plasma, but our recently purchased Vizio LCD looks almost as good
For the smaller sets, LCD is the way to go IMHO
I do not see the difference between 60 and 120 Hz on LCD displays

Charter is not any better.
I have 2 beautiful HDTVs, and they are simply monitors because they have to be attached to these motorola cable boxes to see our baseball channels in HD - boxes that use 500 WATTS even when 'off',
The cable companies are a classic example why granting monopoly status to ANY company is a big mistake.

I have this exact model, and it works great with my original intel iMac. We have about 10 of the earlier Freeagents (brown enclosures), and they all work great via USB.
By my reading, the issue appears to be the cheap enclosures rather than the hard drive per se. My view is 'you get what you pay for.' These cases ARE going to be pretty basic - I like Seagate because they have good power manage

Birdman, how do you use it as your "entertainment system"? Does it work with a remote?
I think the keyspan remote for front row is much better than the Apple remote using a mini for a media center
Includes dedicated sleep and menu buttons

Sheesh.
I did find a nice 2.16 MacBook on Craigslist for $375 two weeks ago. I understand that I can run Leopard on it, and it has a camera! Now if I could just find some Dell decals for it....

They don't use Li yet because it is difficult to make a safe one inexpensively.
It's only a matter of time, and probably not much of it, before they move to lithium or other technologies more advanced than nickel hydride. Once they go lithium the naysayers will have nothing to say re environmental impacts.
Must be cost, then. The CA startup making all-electric cars is using Li

I know someone with a Prius, they also get 42 MPG here in MN over the year.
Why we don't just make these with Li batteries, I don't know.

No way dust is the culprit.
Which MBP do you have? Some have known graphics problems with the repair covered by Apple.
At the same time, it's not that hard to open up a MBP. I've done both MBP and PB17, not too bad, actually. Just go to macfixit for instructions.

I am more interested in the industries that are undergoing a massive change now due to the internet.
Textbooks, for example, are in a massive upheaval. My grade schoolers no longer bring home the specialized texts - they are either on CD, online, or both.
I would argue that google and not the internet is the main reason the newspapers are not able to charge ad revenue for their text. Google

They only kept it on the white MacBook because they didn't redesign that computer. They're just offering it as a low-end option for a while longer.
They updated that machine with new video and other under-the-hood changes.
They could easily have removed FW then if they wanted to.
Also, they remade the mini with a new motherboard design - adding more USB ports - and put in
