It's not unusual to have a little mold on maple syrup. when it's not fridged. Years ago, I used to see labels on the cans and bottles telling purchasers to skim the mold off the top and enjoy, or optionally skim the mold off and then immerse the the can or bottle in water and gently boil to kill off anything left in it. If it's not detected as a panic, it's probably not a panic. But there may still be a relevant log. Visit the /Library/Logs folder and poke through the files/folders in there for indications of crashes/hangs with timing coincidental to the events you're experiencing. I use the CCC menu. I don't need the CPU overheard of a notification on top of that. If there's a problem, the CCC icon will blink with an exclamation point. Otherwise, much the same at work. At home, I have Mail notifications off.

Booting from externals seems to work just fine on Intel Macs -- including booting to Big Sur -- with one exception. I've had some issues with Catalina boot vols on 2012 iMacs that seems to be related to a firmware problem. They sometimes don't see the APFS Catalina boot vol on a restart. I'm curious about their application to the EU. Right now, they're a provisional "partner" and "candidate." They've requested fast-tracking, but there's no fast-track laid out in the rules. 27 nations have to agree to let them in. It usually takes years, might take decades in the ordinary course.

The micro-suction thing will probably do a decent job. I keep one of those dashboard anti-slip pads under my regular iPhone cradle for the same reason, the whole thing lifts up when I try to lift my phone off of the charger. Looks like it's the same stuff as RAMd®d's link. The pad needs a rinse every 6 months or so to keep it "sticky." Other than that, it works pretty well.

I've had several surgeries recently, and I'm allergic to medical adhesives. The tape from the bandages -- which needed to be changed at least daily -- left a square scar on my side. I realized after awhile that the affects on my skin were greatly worsened by the use of Chlorhexidine. It made the difference between "red and itchy" and "blistered, weepy and permanently scarred.

Prosecutors call grand juries in order to come to a predetermined outcome. Unlike regular juries, they only see the evidence that the prosecutor wants them to see. If the grand jury didn't find enough evidence for criminal charges then the prosecutor was seeking that outcome. Putting on a show (at taxpayers' expense) rather that doing his job. Probably a football fan.

They've had production problems with the LG TB displays since the pandemic started. Last order we made took over 6 months to ship. In context, the 6 week delay on the new Apple Displays feels refreshingly quick.

Almost everything that runs well under Catalina will run well under Monterey. But it's best to make a list of critical applications and then check both with the maker and in online forums for compatibility prior to upgrading the OS, regardless of the platform you're on.
