Quotedavester At this point you need to ask yourself whether it makes more sense to keep the car or buy a lower mileage vehicle. First off, there's no way I'd take an old car like that to the stealer in the first place He explained in the OP that he was there for a recall fix.by ho'ard - Tips and Deals
QuoteRobert MMM, Thank you for using the phrase "potential bomber". They are the operative words, ones I have not forgotten in reference to this situation. They pretty much say it all. Robert You lost this argument the first time you said "I feel sorry for you". Grasping at unfortunate/sloppy wording choices just digs your hole deeper.by ho'ard - 'Friendly' Political Ranting
Quotecbelt3 A bomb is quite simply a fast burning fuel (often coupled with an oxidizer for speed of burn) and an igniter device. Such a device can be embedded into a pen, cell phone, toy, clothing, etc, etc, etc. So by your reasoning, anyone carrying a cell phone, pen, toy, or article of clothing should be surrounded by screming men with machine guns at the airport . . .by ho'ard - 'Friendly' Political Ranting
Great deal, thanks! I wanted to mention that kerosene heaters will cause any space they;re used in to stink like kerosene. My friends had major pipe burstage last winter and ended up getting a lot of experience with such devices (they removed the space-heater from their basement at a contractor's advise . . .)by ho'ard - Tips and Deals

QuoteRoboThe great thing about the family pack is if you're gay or lesbian you can install it on any other macs owned by other GLs. So can the entire cast of Oliver:by ho'ard - Tips and Deals
QuoteStavsCan't we all just get along? I nominate this photo as the official "can't we all just get along" image of the macresource forum (I think only a moderator is officially allowed to vote though). I can't wait to use it the next time there's a sour note . . .by ho'ard - Tips and Deals
Also consider a wiki. Like, You can password protect, or not; you can place photos and choose themes for the main page, basically emulating a web page. And everyone can edit. The basic (free) level is all you need.by ho'ard - Tips and Deals
QuotejdcSS SS wasnt ever meant to be permanent -- but everyone in this country thinks they are "entitled" to retirement from the gov. So when I get those statements explaining how much I've paid in, and how much I would get out at what age, those benefits are sort of an "optional" award and those who don't send the checks back with a nice "no thank you" note are beby ho'ard - Tips and Deals
Some odd bugginess-- now the "other" menu is showing up and all seems to be as it should be . . . thanks.by ho'ard - Tips and Deals
Also feel like this is a waste of time. Would much prefer an update on the "current" Trek universe. There are 3 series' worth of cast members to pool from, alive and reasonably young.by ho'ard - Tips and Deals

Perhaps there's some sort of additional Toast 5.3 patch to help it recognize this drive?by ho'ard - Tips and Deals
The "not supported" before could have been because a (freshly) burnt disc was in the drive (?)by ho'ard - Tips and Deals
I installed Patchburn-- now it says this (no disk info whether there's a blank or full DVD in the drive)-- see below . . . However I still can't get anything to come up under "other" in Toast. But, I discovered that the disc burned in simulation mode for some reason (a bunch of AVI files in data mode). Disc works fine (simulation mode doesn't). So, still not sure how to make a "by ho'ard - Tips and Deals

Running 5.2.3 now but there's no pulldown action with the "other" tab . . . Put a DVD in the drive and same . . . running a 4.1 gb data burn in simulation mode for no good reason though . . . Toast's counter barely seems to know how to handle it- the seconds are three seconds long.by ho'ard - Tips and Deals
Quoteho'ardUgh. Toast 5.2.3 requires a CD key to activate. I have no idea where I have any of that info-- it's been years. Ooops-- ignore-- I found instuctions for copying reg info to newer install.by ho'ard - Tips and Deals

<<1. you mean DVD+R and DVD-R. there's only CD-R. some players prefer + over -. try both on the players you typically use. Oops, yeah I do. Is one the "newer" standard that is going to push out the "older" standard? Any pros/cons to either? <<2. Toast 5.2.3 has the "Other" tab, where you can select DVD. do you have 5.2.3? I think I found something along the lines of what you're describing:by ho'ard - Tips and Deals
That reminds me of a car story I have . . . I witnessed a guy walking down a commercial strip this evening kicking in the side of about every third car as hard as he could (as well as the random newspaper box). I saw him do this for a three block stretch.by ho'ard - Tips and Deals

I wandered by Staples yesterday, and a few things jumped out at me, including a Lite-on DVD RW drive for $28. Been meaning to buy one . . . never had DVD burning capability before. I have it in a FW case now and it's recognized, playing back a CD nicely. So, some questions, if you indulge me (I know this stuff is =old-= to most of you). 1) CD-R vs. CD+R. WTF? The drive does both, so I rby ho'ard - Tips and Deals

I have a Fisher/Paykel and like it a lot. The thread you recall actually had someone recommending against f/p without giving any reasoning. My home water is unmetered, so the fee is basically a "tax"- about $550 a year (small 2-flat). My 3-flat is metered, and the bills are about $70 every 2 months (was =much= more until I fixed all the toilet flappers). You're getting walloped, mrbiby ho'ard - Tips and Deals
I was actually a bit relieved to find my home was not viewable. But I think this is a good example of something that could be done better by bicycle . . .by ho'ard - Tips and Deals
