Honestly, if that machine has been in continual use since you bought it, it's probably time to replace the thermal paste between the heat sink(s) and the processor(s). If you've got a dual processor machine, you'll have to do it 2 times, and the area you're looking to get to isn't really easy. You could try safe booting - restart while holding down the shift key. Let it boot all the way to the desktop, then see if the sound control panel changes anything. Then restart without holding down any keys. Jeff

I don't understand why you're having so much trouble with this, but let's see if we can get you all fixed up here. Do you manage your photos through iPhoto, on your Mac? If not, that's a good place to start, since you also mention pictures in your post. You can set iTunes to only move some photos back to your phone, after they're backed up on your Mac. The only one I've ever used is Air Video and the companion server app on the Mac. If you are on the same LAN as the server, it works great. And, it does pickup the position of the videos where you leave them, just tested it. Hope that helps. Jeff
